Is a rat ogre worth it in a 2 day event?

Considering taking a rat ogre to an event but I'm not sure he is worth the money (1.1 event), I don't really consider using one in league play bar inducing it. Has anyone had anyluck with one?
As far as skills go I was thinking break tackle so he can keep up and not get stuck behind some zombies or guard.
The team has 3 normal skills available to it, I'm thinking I should just put them on gutter runners and ignore the rat ogre for a reroll.

As a reasonably wise man once said to me when I asked a similar question: "If you're not taking a rat ogre, then you may as well play wood elves."
GIve him break tackle and dodge into cages for the lols.
Juggernaut is the more common standard normal pick though.

Have to disagree with the wood elf thing, skavens cheapness is a real aid those no reroll wood elfs will tremble at my mighty 3!
Plus 9 MV is the real break away piece, not your silly MV8.
yes yes I know AG4 is jawesome you woodie fans don't need to point out your across the board advantage
Anyway bar me rambeiling, I didn't think of juggernaut (and can't think why)

I think yes, you should take a R.O. to Newport (or wherever) It adds hitting power to your line and is highly mobile (1 of only 2 Mv 6 big guys)

'Coz its
pants thats why!! as it only works on blitzes (not blocks) it almost forces you to use the R.O to blitz which may not be a bad thing until you combine Wild animal and frenzy + loner!!
Break Tackle all the way, as he's AG2 you have a 1 in 3 (5+) chance of not using BT (you dont have to declare its use until you've rolled the die) then use it to dodge into the cage or slip in using his Mv 6 if you've blitzed a hole already and park your prehensile tail next to the ball carrier......BINGO
Also it keeps your other (more fragile) players off the line...

Juggs all the way. In a tourney game I probably blitz with RO 12/16 turns.
It's 4+ (not 5+) to dodge with a Rat ogre usually. Which is still decent enough to do when you need it. And never put him on the line.

Nick, surely Fend is a good skill for a RO if you can get the double?

Is this a widely held view? I'm just moving to skaven after years playing dark elf and thought the RO would be one of the positives. Surprised to see him disregarded like this, I thought he was meant to be good.

I know, I shouldn't have risen, or even clicked on the thread. But I feel
someone has to
occasionally offer moderately sensible advice. It's a losing battle mind- look at Phil in the other thread!

Not all opinions are equal!

You know mumbo I was asking for advice and all this is done is made me confused.(I probably missed something between you and joe)
Rat ogre : worth taking or not?
Which skills if he is worth taking?

The rat ogre is absolutely worth taking: but you have to give it a skill, either juggernaut or block (although you’ll need a doubles skill for that).
You can easily fit him in at 1.1, you get 12 players with max positionals (one thrower) and the apothecary, 2 re-rolls with the option of getting leader on the thrower. That’s more than enough. I would never consider taking skaven to a tournament without the rat ogre, he just adds so much to the roster.

Mumbo (MUBO!) is the highest NAF ranked Skaven player in the UK. Heed his advice.
Jimjimany is the second highest. He has described the Skaven team as a "Rat Ogre delivery system" and regularly blitzes with the RO every single turn when it is even vaguely sensible.
To summarise. RO good. Juggs good. Break Tackle not moronic but certainly suboptimal.

Joe is having fun at the expense of what usually passes for advice here. I acknowledged this. Apologies.
In short- Yes. Juggernaught (or block if a double's available). Break tackle is an unconventional choice, but not necessarily bad. Main advantage of Juggs is that he can be used early in the turn with low risk of turnover (1/36 not 1/9), it helps with surfs as well.

Sorry if I sounded cocky/unappreciative before I was just confused
While I recognise mumbo's acheivment (which is awesome) looking around the forum it did seem that the forum was divided on the rat ogre.
Thanks for some rock solid confidance on the matter joe and mumbo. Would like to hear more on the matter, number e.t.c
P.s what was the '(MUBO!)' thing about?

Let's not forget that a large proportion of mumbo's skaven CR came from his BBGT win, whilst he was a self-proclaimed "noob" at Blood Bowl. Afterall, any lucky idiot an win the blood bowl. Which noob won it this year, again?
But take the Rogre for definite. Give it Juggs or block if you haven't got a better plan for the double.
