Number of freebooters

Some nations have asked if it would be okay to use 3 freebooters on their national team instead of 2 as the rules currently says, because they are only able to find 5 national coaches ready to play in EB2012.
I think "the more the merryer", and would like to change our rules text.
But I wouldn't want to step on anybody's toes, so please give your oppinon here. I would especially like the team captains to give me their "go" on this ASAP.

Being one the captains that asked, I do support this motion. The more the merrier is one reason, the other pretty selfish :orc:

Having teams that represent a nation is what we should aim at and with 5 nationals and 3 freebooters we would still achieve that IMHO.

Having said that, I also think the initial quota of 6 was and is a good number.

Speaking for Denmark and as an organizer:
As far as I know three countries have five men - and lack a sixth.
Thats Scotland, the Netherlands & Finland.
I do support as many countries as possible - but I also understand the argument for a team to consist of mainly "homegrown" players.
However three entire countries more makes a hell of a difference to me.

Speaking for the welsh, although we have the 6 required, there was a time where we was looking at 5+3. Since the world cup interest has grown and I have no doubt that after eb2012 it will again.

Is it worth considering that those smaller or newer nations like Wales just need the step up in the right direction to get a foot hold.

I think it's a worth while thing if not abused.

The three countries were already not there in 2010, it will be sad if they miss again Eurobowl.
I will be happy to meet these players, and I think that the competition will look better with more countries.
So, I agree to three mercenaries. :)

If it makes a difference between nations going or not going, I'm all for it.

No-one wants to see it abused - the national identity is important, but I think 3 freebooters is fine.

Just heard that the Scottish recruitment drive to replace the horde of dropouts may have borne fruit. We're looking at being 6+1 atm.

as long as a freebooter is not picked over someone from that nationality it should not be a problem, the more the more for Mary

the Welsh justt lost a coach and are on 5+2 at the moment, so the 3rd could be the difference

Speaking for the German team we would prefer only two freebooters, but we would not have any problems with 5 + 3 either if this allows for more teams being present this year.

On Behalf of the Austrian team I can voice our opinion that 5 of 8 is enough to ensure a team's national characteristic (assumed the fellas at least tried to assemble 8 coaches). It would be kind of strange if a large Blood Bowl nation like England or France would show up with 3 freebooters, but obviously the teams concerned are small BB-communities. So no objection from our part.

Sweeden also said "go" to 3 freebooters.
Based on these replies, I dare conclude that it would be okay to change the rules this year, so that up to 3 freebooters are allowed, when an nation is unable to find enough national coaches.
Thanks. :-)

Ok, but Iwant to make a proposal. Teams with 3 freebotter, can't host next Eurobowl.

In my opinion, there are several teams have been playing Eurobowls (Belgium, Austria, Portugal...) and they want to host Eurobowl event, and could happen that Finland with 3 freebotters, can finish in a better position because their freebotters have made a great tournament. I think that's not fair

Who decides who hosts the next euro bowl?

Wales are back on course with 6+2
