Annnnnnnnd: the Cheese got chewed!!!!

Pouring rain and FAME +1 to the Gravely Repulsed, as well as the kick.... Planning on a foul-eriffic game I had purchased two new zombies, Sarah Wailin' Palen and John Payne.... The Norse then spent 50k on a Babe and I countered with the same purchase!

Scary beginning as I initially flopped the pickup and then forgot Angus the Younger had Fend and let him get whacked a second time... fortunately not stunned or worse.... The Norse couldn't capitalize and aced out before getting a shot at Doggie 9.1, who double gfi'ed to escape any pursuit (as well as the Weres knocking down all comers that might have made it).... Meanwhile, Long Chainey and Hanover Fiste each pounded a Norseman into the casualty box.... Doggie coasted one turn, but the Fjord Horde came pounding down the field and the ghoul stepped over the line with 2 turns left to the opposition.... Dirt Landcaster was initially dead, but regenned it together (death is but a transition) and Sarah Wailin' Palen got niggled out of the campaign (she's gonna opt for some elective surgery, no doubt)....

As a note: FEND on a blodging Werewolf is FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!! The Norse Beserkers were totally flummoxed at not getting that second shot on Angus and Doggie.... :P And, coaches, I LOVE THE DOUBLE BANANA!!!! It sooooooo worked in this game!!!!

The Vikings petered out in the final two turns and the half ended 1-0 for the Necros....

Second half I wish I'd set up forward-er, as an Invasion stunned half the naughty norse and opened up a floodgate of Undead moving forward.... The Vor's-men secured the ball and then failed an Ag4 dodge to open field, trying to get away from two Werewolves! Long Chainey picks up the pigskin and trots in!!!! 2-0 for the happy harbingers of hell....

Vor's Vikings would manage a gutsy 3/4 field running play before getting blitzed down.... Then the luck of Nuffle would finally turn on a 1-die push into the ball and having it bounce out of 3 tackle zones and only into one.... A "6" picks up anything and the dodge was successful for the only opposition Td....

MVP to Spiked Jones (Zombie) and the Block Skill.... Hanover Fiste also learned Block... while Long Chainey got mentored in the Fend Skill from the successes of Angus....

No change in FF, 80k in winnings... and a move into second place on our League Ladder!!!!

Fugly dice and I only got a tie (just barely hanging on) against the gobbos.... How bad was it?! I only stunned one or two greenskins, while losing the casualty count 0-1 (the knock-out count 0-6), and if Rob had attempted/made a gfi on turn 15, he'd probably won the game!!!! Oh, yeah, this fiasco was had against my new undead team.... Shouldn't have happened, but did....

Back to our winning ways!!!! :D

The Horde went for a rematch with Dead Reckoning in extreme heat... and the dice were not kind.... The kick was very deep and the greenies opened up with an attempted pile-on of a zombie and the return favor was the zombie putting in the boot to stun the blitzer.... :P Later, a zombie would be ejected for throwing two pairs of Sixes on another foul that would BH yet another blitzer! The Undead would proceed in racking up 3 casualties (ghoul on goblin, mummy on thrower and zombie on black orc).... Sinnebad had joined the game as an inducement, and mainly acted to hold the line, repeatedly, against Orc incursions.... An orc hail mary would finally be recovered by a butter-fingered ghoul and an attempted long pass fumbled.... After half-time, with the sun beating mercilessly down, only 6 Orcs would stand to face 9 Reckoners in a 0-0 slug-fest....

The Horde gave it all they had in the second half, but their numbers were whittled down to three (two knock-outs and a crowd surf) before ghoul Giggler casually za-zenned into the end-zone.... The game would end on a whimper and a 1-0 stalling dance of the dead....

MVP and Block skill to zombie Gunk; TD and Fend skill to ghoul Giggler.... 50K into the coffers and status quo on the 8 Fan Factor (yeah, that's pitiful for 3d6!).... Dead Reckoning maintains a commanding lead on first place in the Ladder League!

The Grave Reservations challenged Snow's Crew (Dwarves):

Our opponent's dice were loosey-goosey with him... seemingly knocking down the undead at will, yet nearly REFUSING to break armor.... I had one 2-die disaster that cost me a TD in the first half while I attempted to stall at the goal line.... :pissed: Fortunately for E-ville, our favorite monsters kept knocking out, fouling, surfing and injuring scrunts enough to have half the team out when the werewolf FINALLY picked up the ball on his 4th(?) try and trotted in for the 16th turn finale! :orc: Casualties were light to the grave: a knocked-out ghoul, BH wight, and a zombie caught fouling.... Grudging kudos to the dwarven apothecary, as we would've had our FIRST dwarven zombie (troll slayer) had the doc not literally brought him back from the dead... darn it!

Naughty Nuffle was stinkin' up the deep woods, today, to the point where the new Sucks 2 B (S2B) Vampiric team had to challenge the equally hobbled Green Cheese Dark Elves to a match in a brightly sun-shiny glade...! :o

The poofy purple pusses showed up with 6000 supporters, while the 2B's easily doubled them up with 13k slinky fans (mostly thralls, no doubt).... S2B won the toss and deferred the kick.... A quick snap, and relatively deep kick, did little to the delfs and they moved up field against a bizarre "keep-away" defense.... A break-out pass went inaccurate in the sunshine and a vampire tucked it away.... A stunned thrall and three deep gazes later, the Vamps had tasted "first blood" and planted the spiked canole in the coffin!!!! The cost had been two moronic henchmen rolling double nuffles, both times, on fouls! :pissed:

Second kick-off and not only did the ball finally rest in the corner of the end zone, but a massive flight of bats swooped across the LOS, stunning 9 out of 11 Cheese puffs and only one opposing thrall.... Too deep a kick and not enough time, the half ended with the en-Thralled players up 1-0 and about to receive.... Amazingly, the half had only ate-up 1 out of 4 rerolls.... :D

The second half wouldn't be much fun, though, with only 9 vericose vamps vs 11 disturbing delfs.... The handle had obviously come off the ball with a vamp flubbing the pick up and burning a reroll for naught! Turn two, with two delves closing in and the same pale-puss actually repeated the failure and fumbled the ball out of bounds through the end zone...! The ball was thrown straight and true... and with any distance, would've landed in the Vamps cage.... Whatever! It fell unnaturally short and bounced to a halt right in front of a Journey-delf with no tackle zones on her.... :blue: Freakin' easiest Td ever!

The rest of the second half, the undead and friends put on a dazzling display of end-around reverses, but an equally dazzling display of numbers and defender downs kept the vanquishers of Van Helsing out of the end zone and the game ended in a draw.... :|

Snackable #4 got the MVP and Nosferatu Red the only TD... no skills....

With only a late-night read through the Talk Fantasy Football search engines, and this being my only game with this race, I felt a tie (almost a win) was justifiable to the Vamp fans and they responded with an increased following....

In the second game, The last place Blaggerds (Chaos) dropped one against the rising Ogres of the Midgit Idgits....

Two retirements today: The New Greyhounds (Dwarves) and Undeadly Sexy are no more.... In a news conference, Undeadly's Just Dead Fred crooned, "We're just too sexy for our dirt!" A confused crowd of reporters received no further comment....

A scary game, but a good day to be a Vampire! The weakened wiles of the Wild W's (Amazons) carried on though they were able to challenge up the ladder to a new Vamp team (Sucks 2 B) as a 190k overdog! The Suckers responded by hiring two Thrall Mercs and a Bloodweiser Babe.... With 11 thralls and 3 Vamps, the bite-fight was on!!!!

Fame and kick to the zons, with S2B's Masters hovering in the backfield, and the ladies played catch for the first two turns.... Maybe they thought they were elves...? Whatever the reason, the babes drove the ball upfield and tried a long pass to a waiting recieiver who dodged through the vamp lines.... 2 come 2 and the bad witch fumbles!!!! The nearest (warm) body to the ball was Snackable #4 and he ran like hell was after him, for the endzone.... Back coverage by the rest of the lunch crew and the score was 1-0 at the half...!

Second half riot before a mid-wing kick to the Nosferatus and all went well, till a vamp double Nuffled a backwards lateral.... :pissed: Long in the tooth, but not short in resources, the three Nos's covered each other with henchmen help and blitz-dodge-double-gfi'ed into the endzone....

The ekg was flat-lining for the skilled BB babes and a two turn chance at redemption turned into a one-turner on a double-failed pick-up.... The vamps used all their tricks to back up the receivers... still a chance presented itself, and the Amazons picked up the ball and motored forward for a hand-off-pass attempt... but the hand-off would be bobbled and fumbled to the ground... ending the game....

We lost the casualty war: 0-2... with one being a BH merc and the other an MNG thrall.... Unfortunately the merc would also steal the MVP.... S2B garnished a thousand more fans and enough cash to hire it's 10th Thrall...! Snackable #4 gained the Fend skill and two vamps sit a TD away from their first!

A good second game for the team....

Post by Digger Goreman »

The evil ol' Asylum didn't play a ladder match this weekend, training a new coach instead with a practice game between two rookie teams... his humans vs my orcs (1 mil w/no big guys) and he learned the game quite quickly.... With little coaching, our new blood bowler scored twice and the game ended in a 2-2 tie! Nice going T!!!

Yesterday and today was an Aahz-fest, with the Midgit Idgits tying the devastating, last place, Blaggerds 1-1.... The Blaggerds lost a Chaos Warrior to a self-induced, doubled-down snotling who killed the warrior...! In return, the Blaggerds caused 10 casualties to the unfortunate squirts (including 2 MNG Ogres!)

Today the Wild W's sought out the Idgits, looking for an easy win... and got more than they bargained for...! :o Once a 5 St, Break Tackle Ogre gets the ball.... It wasn't pretty.... Most peculiarly, Amazon "Whiskey" was last seen talking to a Guild Assassin, and a Goblin Fanatic was thrown on the field by a well-meaning (if there is such a thing) Ogre, which proceeded to wreak initial havoc on the Snotlings and an Ogre (knocking them willy-nilly) then, finally, stunning the amazon ball carrier and leading to the only score of the match, with a snot recovering and running the ball into the endzone, under the whirling ball of death....

The Blaggerds are gonna love the new ratings ladder:

It's the little things that hurt....

Like Saturday's game, Grave Reservations (ladder rating 105) against a new (ladder rating 100) halfling team, The Nice Guys.... Should've been a cakewalk (even with both my rerolls stolen each half)... and I literally doubled out only when it was important.... If not for a consolation score (Turn 16 Td) it would've been a route.... Final: 1-2 in favor of the bun warmers....

... Or Sunday: Bad Moon Bears, Goblins (ladder rating 121) challenges up to my new Vampire Team, S2B (Sucks to Be... either you or me....) (123 ladder rating).... They get FAME and kickoff, but I'm on cruise mode in the first half... turn them over... and it's 1-zip! Well, the first half of the first half... as, after the score, things fell apart fast and I started hemmoraging 1's & skulls.... Never failed a bloodlust (only had to reroll one in 16 turns with 3 Vamps) but couldn't halfway dodge and kept failing gfi's.... Even so, I'm wearing them out and seemingly cruising to a 2-0, or better, when (with a reroll), Nuffle greeks me again!!!! And not just once, but the two turns (in a row) needed to deny me a Td on attempted gfi (with my last reroll) and double skulls on my first block, next turn.... :pissed:

Of course he blessed my opponent abundantly... even giving him two consecutive 1/2 die pushes to surf one of my Vampires.... :|

With the second Vamp stunned and only one commander on the field, I still managed to spring a Thrall free with a gaze and blitz down the carrier... yet... on his gfi'ing way to recover the ball, two squares away, my thrall fell... yet... again.... So the gobbos skated into the endzone for the spoiling equalizer....

It's definitely the "little things" that made the difference this weekend....

The Horde (having lost the only two outings 1-0 each time) entered "The Perfect Storm" today and the Dead Reckoning sailed to a 3-0 shutout.... My dice were'nt HOT-hot... but I never doubled out.... And the wrong thing just kept happening to the Orcs.... The last two pickup attempts were just too slippery as a threatening sky turned to pouring rain after halftime.... Three different ghouls (Rancid/Giggler/Gutrot IV) ran in Tds, while Killjoy the Mummy pounded out 2 casualties and Giggler (ghoul) one.... Casper the Wight and Ghoulishka the Mummy were victims of Orcish mischief, but managed to pull themselves together after "unraveling" hits.... Spooky (Wight) took in the MVP.... No skill ups, though the fan base increased to 100,000; the treasury to 130,000; and the team's value to 1,570,000....

An incredibly entertaining game followed with The Bottom Line Orcs touseling with the Ogres and Snotlings of the Midgit Idgits.... Details are waiting, but I saw sharp play, good hits, many confused Ogres, crazy passing/dodging/tackling/blitzing line orcs, and a final play that defied the odds to see a catching, stumbling Orc bumble into the endzone at the final gun.... Sorry to Aahz for having to lose that one... but it was a memorable finale!

Yeah, and he only poops ones....

Saturday was an incredible (incredulous?) game, featuring the bottom dwelling Wild W's (amazons) (TV 143, SPP 147) challenge of the league leading Dead Reckoning (undead) (TV 157, SPP 144) in an attempt to crawl out of the cellar! The 'Zons induced Helmut Wulf, lost the FAME to the Dead, and elected to receive the kick in perfect Blood Bowl weather.... Inexplicably, the Wild Women asked Helmut to sit out the first half! Perhaps it was in response to the Reckoning's kicking setup that insulated the mummies Ghoulishka and Killjoy....

Most of the game went to plan, with the gals being roughed into the injury and knock out boxes in a fairly routine manner.... The one mummy induced death was apothecaried to a badly hurt.... Nevertheless, the distaff were overturned and the Dead led one to nothing, midway through the first half.... The Zons came roaring back after Rancid (Ag 4 Ghoul) fumbled a quick pass... yet, Nuffle would even the abuse with the Wild's catcher doubling out on a near Td dodge.... And, yet another Nuffling of the bony handed hand-off would put the ball back in feminine hands and, this time, the girl would make her dodge into the endzone for the tie at the half!

Second half and the Ladies "stack" the line, with Helmut in the middle.... The Reckoning responded by pushing away the lone guardswoman and subjecting Mr. Chainsaw to two vicious "mummifications"....! Too slow... KO!!!! A successful (this time) hand off to Spooky the Wight, with some more beat downs, and the Zons were behind, 2-1, and only had five players available....

You'd think that would end it... but a Zon fan fist fest later and the clock was set back! :o

The Dead had put three zeds on the front and all the rest milling back at the endzone, when the Amazons came charging upfield! The slack dead sprinted, as best they could, into action and attempted to surround the incursion.... Nevertheless, with a little luck, the babes could've spoiled the post-game celebration.... Their choices weren't optimal, and the luck ran out with the timer....

Final: 2-1 to the Dead Reckoning....

Only one skill-up: Spooky took Mighty Blow, and is now a scarier blodger...!
