Heated language alert
Dear long-suffering moderators -
This is simply to alert you to the Nurgle thread in the Tactics and League Development section.
One of the posters has alluded to Richard Dawkins and Creationism. I suggest this may not be appropriate on this forum.
Your sweet moderating influence may therefore be required at some point on the said thread.
All the best.

Pathetic. An allusion is hardly heated language.

Re: Heated language alert
Are you saying that you think discussion of religion is OK on this forum, or that comparing members to contoversial religious figures or sects is OK?
That sort of thing is akin to Godwinism, IMHO.

Re: Heated language alert
I think it's more the fact that this post is headed heated language alert and the comments didn't really seem like heated language, more facetious language that did little to help the tone of his message or communicate the viewpoint he wanted. In fact the comment in question simply led to the original poster looking a little bit like a dafty.Smeborg wrote:Are you saying that you think discussion of religion is OK on this forum, or that comparing members to contoversial religious figures or sects is OK?

Although tbf this post did draw my attention to the thread and led to me reading some interesting ideas for Nurgle which i hadn't really considered before. The idea of a Stymie team play is new to me but quite quite interesting.

Political Discussion
This is a place for discussion about Fantasy Football, please do not bring up or discuss politics or current events that may offend other people on the board.
++++
Some may feel that the comment in question is innoculous, however the tone and context was definitely geared to offend and pre-supposes certain beliefs for or against.

Re: Heated language alert
I don't think it was aimed at provoking any kind of discussion or argument that would breach the rules of the board. It was an allusion to polarised opinion. If a discussion had started based on that allusion, then, as Smeborg said: " moderating influence may therefore be required at some point". (My emphasis)
At this point it's not required. But had (or should) a discussion gone in that particular tangent, then it may well have been/will be required.
So far, no harm..no foul, and a thanks for the heads up.

Thanks, Deathwing. The language in question has not continued, I am pleased to say, and the tone on the thread in question has been moderated by the intervention of several coaches. I was compared to a Creationist, but I have a thick skin.

Can I call Godwin yet?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Re: Heated language alert
Not quite, be there's a case for a semi-Godwin.
I wonder if there's a similar rule for Dawkins as there is Godwin?
I prefer rule 34 myself.
