Re: stalling vs sportsmanship
My guess is that agreeing with your oppo to not do anything is against the rules. If the opponent stays prone or runs away from the ball, then there's not much else you can do but click away.mattgslater wrote:Boo. It was ok for the other guy if he has no reasonable chance of getting the ball or any spp’s and standing his players up just means they will risk getting hurt.

But what if there's no collusion? Setting your opponent up so he has to do something isn't colluding with him, right? Being in the right place to just end turn without risking players isn't collusion: it's a reward for playing good football. Maybe it's the first half and you're on defense, with a ton of opposing knockouts, and you don't want to give him a second chance to recover all those bodies with meaningful game time on the line. You also probably don't want to foul unless you've got reserves, in that only a Cas will make up for an ejection. Hardly colluding: he'd rather you scored.Ullis wrote:My guess is that agreeing with your oppo to not do anything is against the rules. What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

I think there's nothing contrary to the FUMBBL rules in the scenario Matt described. At least I've been in that situation many times, being content with just keeping my players where they are after my opponent has stopped his last death struggles.

Yeah, it's not getting upset when your opponent stall on you during a blowout game.Oly1987 wrote:And the question is really is there any place for sportsmanship in blood bowl?

I would be wary of just clicking end turn and would suggest at least shuffling a couple of players about if it looks like you will be doing it for more than 1 turn.
If your opponent just leaves all his team prone, you have them covered and it’s not worth the risk of a pass then there is not much you can do. However 2 players clicking end turn for 3 or 4 turns straight looks suspicious even if it is in both coaches interest to do so as the beaten coach is thinking about future competitive games whilst the other is ensuring they win this one.
Of course if you clear the pitch then the ultimate crime is just to click through turns until the end rather than making a nice smiley face.

I think it was fine for the original poster to play it that way.spubbbba wrote:I would be wary of just clicking end turn and would suggest at least shuffling a couple of players about if it looks like you will be doing it for more than 1 turn.

In theory if his opponent had just clicked end turn for 3 or 4 turns then the opponent would break Fumbbl rules but not blood bowl rules. The OP would be "playing competitively" whereas his opponent wouldn't be. Weird but true.

In FUMBBL you don't se that person. Maybe he is starting to surf on the internet so he don't care.

Hey, I resemble that remark! Both of them!JaM wrote:Yes there is. But there are arguments that stalling si a part of the game, just like 'camping' in an online shooter like Counterstrike.
It has it's place and time (stalling).
Every game has a place for sportmanship, be it listening to the ref when he tells you to stop triangle-chocking your opponent or something else.
I think you did the right thing here. As long as nothing is at stake (championship), why not make the game enjoyable for both and make something of it?

The original poster did the right thing because he acted out of concern for someone else. On-pitch results are secondary. Well done, sir!

What do you resemble then, since I dont think there is anything wrong with it. AS long as both sides have fun...
I mean, there are a lot of CS-mods at the moment (well, there were a year ago...?) where you fight vs zombies. It's one great camping fest then. running for your lives, trying to find higher ground... Loads of fun.
