it seems like there be tons of houserules concerning Dungeonbowl out there ...
We made some good experiences with tracking the time similarily like an regular BB Match.
Further it wasn't allowed under our houserule to place an teleporter into the endzone tile.
Theese changes made our games far more exciting.

Maybe since Death zone is no-more, JJ might consider bringing out a new version of dungeon bowl as a BB suppliment, just a thought.
Also i think i've posted this before, anyone who wants to find the pieces, i found this website http://www.xs4all.nl/~mgsch/gaming/bloo ... unters.htm

An interesting way to play is to place both enzones together in the center of the dungeon. It eliminates teams who "camp" the endzone and starts the brawling early. Teams balance between how many of their numbers can they leave in the brawl versus the number of "scouts" they send out to find the ball. Makes for an interesting game.
Also, try this: have the ball being held by a big monster of some sort. It's common to see both teams work together to bring the big foe down, then scramble to grab the ball and get the heck outta there.

Dungeonbowl
Dungeonbowl is a fun game, especially if you're drunk and relaxing at the end of an evening.
The game has a couple of flaws, as far as I can see:
(1) It takes many, many turns to play to conclusion (not a problem when drunk).
(2) The Leap skill seems overpowered. Whenever I have played with rookie teams, whoever has Wardancers alway seems to clean up. They just jump over anything in the corridors, and get to the end zone too easily.
But it's fun. As said elsewhere on this thread, 3-way DB seems to work well.
Cheers

SVBBL uses a modified version of the Dungeonbowl rules from WD225.
Some things we had to clean up for our league:
-Compilations do not count for SPPS. We had an instance of Khemri coach blocking off both ends of a corridor with his mummies and then attempted to max out all of his players with completions in the middle of the hallway. Since there was no turn counter (and all of the other mechanism I came up with to make a team "get on with it" were far to cumbersome) this became the most appropriate solution for our league.
-Balls can never land on a teleporter square. This solved the whole chicken and the egg problem of "If I step on a teleporter to pick up the ball, and fail to do so, where does the ball scatter from" I basically came up with the fluff that the ball shield would not allow it to rest on a teleporter.
-Added some pre-match rolls to give some small benefit to teams with cheerleaders and assistant coaches.
-Added wandering monsters as handicap results
Work I still need to do to make the rules LRB compatible:
- Modify some of the negative traits
- Modify the handicap table
- Remove racial wizard rules
Anyone who wants to take a look at the work in progress should check out

The rules from bloodbowl.com are the rules from WD225.BlanchPrez wrote:What about the Dungeon Bowl rules posted on Bloodbowl.com? Are those the same ones as in White Dwarf? Or are they LRB compliant?
Chris
The SVBBL modified them to clear up some ambiguities in the rules.
We were not fans of the "Jumping Over Things" rules as they were printed. It just didn't seem right that a Mummy would have the same chances of jumping over a chasm as a Wardancer.
Also, we removed the Dungeonbowl specific teams as we use our normal league teams for the Dungeonbowl tournament. We had toyed with the idea of Dungeonbowl teams being the "College" teams associated with the league and then drafting the players after the Dungeonbowl was complete. But this idea was scrapped due to lack of time.

I believe that they are for the most part. The ones on the site are great because they have the rules AND the pieces you need to play it (chest counters, teleporters, endzones, etc.). There are rules in the download that are specific to Dungeon Bowl but all other normal rules apply.BlanchPrez wrote:What about the Dungeon Bowl rules posted on Bloodbowl.com? Our league using a 4-way dungeon bowl setup for one of our four rotated championship games...it is usually quite fun and the winner isn't always the top seeded team.

We play Dungeonbowl occasionally in our league and have modified a couple of things:
The falling down a chasm rules have been tamed down to have a little less chance of killing as it ends up being far too easy to push people back into that and killing them.
We don't bother with the colleges teams.

So, I've read here that people play this on an irregular basis, or as championship games. Has anyone ever played it as a whole season? My league is playing a four cup year, and I was thinking of making the third cup a Dungeonbowl game, but I'm not sure if the whole season should be Dungeonbowl, or if just the final match should be.

I think the drawback to the Dungeon Bowl, used as a regular season, is the board set up. It's takes a while to setup and take down (unless you have a prefab dungeon) and it could be set up differently each time (which some players may feel is unfair if their dungeon was particularly "harder" compared to another's dungeon setup).
For a regular season, I'd suggest possibly drawing out a set of "pre-made" dungeons that can be chosen from and built for a game so it is fair to everyone...or make all players use each dungeon at least once (really depends on the size of your league).

The end-zone “line of death” does not discriminate when one tempts fate by using a “go for it” to pass over it.

SVBBL uses standard Blood Bowl matches for the qualifier round of the Dungeonbowl tournament. The main reason is the fact that we've used touchdown differential to determine playoff seating. This system wouldn't work terribly well since Dungeonbowl always ends 1-0.
We then have a "Wild Card" round before the quarter final round, so everyone gets a shot at playing a Dungeonbowl match.
