Zombie, I don't really see why you are so hung up on the current CDs, they were changed from the 2ed CDs to fall in line with WFB and who knows, since CDs don't even exist in WFB anymore, the current CDs may go that way too after the re-release of BB box game. If they are wiped from the pages of BB, are you still going insist they are the only true Chaos Dwarves?

My take on the subject:
use the current team, but the old chaos dwarf concept.
There is no need whatsoever to demand that the chaos dwarves have the same lineup as dwarves.
My CD team has no hats for example - I snipped them off in disgust the minute I got the team.
Say that chaos dwarves are so evil that none of them want to do anything else but blocking job - they leave the rest for the bull centaurs and the hobgoblin slaves.
And if you want, let the CD's get mutations and thats it, you've got a team that reflects the 3rd ed stats and 2nd ed spirit.

I agree, I have just started to play with a CD team, and I am really enjoying it, 6 blockers and 2 BC's, with a load off Hobgob's running around the place is great fun.
I do like the idea of the CD's being able to take physical abilities though, that would complete the team, although some may disagree.

I want to make clear, again, that I have nothing against the current CD tean, other than the fact that it looks really silly. It's a good team, but it doesn't seem like a real CHAOS dwarf team to me, the 2ed team seemed more like what I would consider CDs to be, dwarves that have gone over to Chaos, received mutation, etc.
As far as being too similar to dwarfs, I don't really buy that arguement when HE and DE are fairly similar in stats. All that was done was to take away one position and add another (catchers for witch elves) which is what I am talking about with the old/new CD team. Drop the TS and add a different position - mutants. For a bit more variety could call runners throwers and give them pass instead of sure hands.
My idea is not to replace the current team but give more variety. People can go on playing the existing southern CD team and those who wish to try something closer to the original can play the northern (true) CD team.

If you demand to go that route, i'd go with
Chaos Dwarves
0-12 Lineman 4 3 2 9 Block,Tackle gen,st,phys 70k
0-4 Blitzer 5 3 3 9 Block gen,st,phys 80k
0-2 Thrower 5 3 3 8 Pass pas,gen,phys 80k
Rerolls 60K
Or replace the thrower with runner and give him back that square of MA and SH instead of pass.

I had that trouble with the masks. So had to re- prime some.traveller wrote:
but i just tried to paint this 2.ed team... argh, i´m not happy with them. Those mask, they are wearing.... i tried to use an old colorscheme like this you can find in WD116. Painted mask are hard to recognize as masks.

The minis are a lot better than the 3rd ed ones though, they feel more chaotic.

I think the idea of ignoring the WFB fluff is misleading. BB has always been based on WFB fluff. Concepts like Chaos in the first place (as presented in BB anyway) and skaven are pure WFB. Rather than run around saying things like the "real" chaos dwarves, or the "true" chaos dwarves, just say you like the old concept better than the new and have done with it.

You keep saying things like this. The polls showed that only 4 people primarily play them. It looks like most people play Orks. I like CDs too but, just because you like them so much, doesn't mean that they are everyone's choice.Zombie wrote:Third, for those of us who love the current chaos dwarves team (and that's a lot of people since it seems to be the team most played team by members of this board), don't change it, don't rename it, don't touch it. We love them the way they are.

I don't trust polls. I didn't even answer that post because it was badly formulated and it was impossible to know what the question was. You can add another vote for chaos dwarves from me if you like polls so much.
I said that it seemed to be the most played by people here because it's the team that gets the most questions asked about in the team development section, and the most answers to those questions.
