Mistwraith: have a look at the minis. You'll like them.
As for WFB setting, as soon as you decide that Dwarves would play Skaven at a fantasy football match, you've thrown WFB fluff out the window. About bloody time too.
As for the Dark Elves, they have 4 blitzers - there's your hitting power. They tread the line between low(er) speed and high agility and as such are a unique team and deserve to be played as such. I don't think the others need work at all; Dark Elves play a very different style of game to High Elves if you play either of them properly.
The only change I'd make is to give the Thowers Sure Hands and call them runners.

Not official by any means but I would think Cyber-Punk would refer futuristic settings and usually deals with computer networks and/or vitual reality. Visually speaking, I'd say most cyber punk stuff has lots of chrome, neon, trenchcoacts, sunglasses, sleek art-deco looks and for some reason...rain.
Cyber Fantasy would be the same thing but slightly different for a fantasy world. Sleek stylized designs, lots of chrome spikes, marble, pillars, and glass. Look at first and second edition for what I think they are referring to.

The whole 'Cyber' thing was a throwaway phrase in discussion rather than any definate policy.
The point is to move the BB range away from WFB style without weapons and back towards the more dedicated BB figures of 2e. The community has been crying out for this for years. We get it and there's quibbles about definations of a throwaway phrase? Gimmie a break...
More Rollerball/Salute of the Jugger style, less stupid High Elves without shields etc. Lion Warrior? It's a Catcher FFS!!!!
Go Fanatic!

Cyber is a referance to cybernetic i.e. mechanical parts fused into organic beings (or organic minds into mecanical/digital machines). It has noting to do with rain, crome, cute laidies in tight shinny leather (as much as we might like that), or sunglasses.
The diffrence bettwen cyber-punk, and cyber-fantacy is that C-F has fantacy stereotypes added in to as C-p setting. For an example see the RPG Shadowrun. It is a C-P setting with Elves, ogers, ect.. added in.
None of which is Warhammer. BloodBowl is a subset of Warhammer. It exists firmly in the Warhammer world.

No it doesn't. Andy and JJ made this crystal clear. Does the WH world have cabalvision (i.e. TV)?MistWraith wrote:BloodBowl is a subset of Warhammer. It exists firmly in the Warhammer world.
And what rules would Chaos Warriors abide to? Sent off for fouling? Playing football in the first place?
The Blood Bowl world is a place apart. A parallel universe.

Sure there are ... country folk include a heck of a lock of throw-away phrases in their everyday life, I know I grew up with them. Only the most anal retentive folks in this world worry about phrasology when there are several pictures of the real thing around them to explain what the speaker means. Colorful speach is a part of life ... get over your hang-up here.MistWraith wrote:No such thing as a throw away phrase.
I agree Deathwing/Marcus/Pariah/Snots/Darkson ... 'bout freaking time JJ went back the 2nd edition look.

Enough of this cyber-bullshit.
Does anyone know what scale the new elves are going ot be. 28mm like the 3rd ed or are thay going to lean more toward the "heroic" 30mm scale? Any bigger than the 3rd ed minis are and I'm not going to like them.
I only ask after seeing what they did to BIG guys in the switch to 3rd ed from 2nd. I prefer to play with the smaller, 2nd ed figs, even if the scale of the 3rds might be more accurate.

That would describe me then. I am very retintive in that section of my anatomy.GalakStarscraper wrote:Sure there are ... country folk include a heck of a lock of throw-away phrases in their everyday life, I know I grew up with them. Having not seen the pictures, I have only the words to go by. If they had said 2nd edition style, it would have been much clearer. If they go that direction, then I hope they keep the detail and racial diffrentiation the current line of WFB models have. They are much better than the old (from the same time as BB 2nd Ed) WFB minis were.

no actually i'm with him...i am a poster child for the "gateway drug" thing he's talking about. I was never going to play warhammer because there were too many figs and i coulnd't paint and it was too expensive and...snotsngrots wrote:I think you're alone on that WFB/BB thing. Most everyone that lets their voice be heard on that subject hates the WFB world messing up our game.
about 10 other excuses.
then I played bb. I saw i could paint ok, and got better as i went along...suddenly if i can do a team of 16 guys, a regiment of 20 is no big deal, and warhammer is done a regiment at a time, and look at the cool figs...then somebody was selling off their old dark elf wh army (about 1500 points)and BANG!...now, I have 12k points of dark elves (about10 painted) and about 5k points of lizardmen (about 3painted)
never woulda happened without bb. I know a few other ppl who are the same way. gw should take a lesson there.

i thought the 2nd ed figs looked lame...with the exception of some of the skaven. the 2nd ed dark elves looked like they jumped right off the gay rainbow bus. the orcs looked like they'd been on slim fast for a year, not big and scary at all. the elves looked like they'd been to too many "Rancid" concerts. the dwarves were ok, but who gives a damn about dwarves?Pariah wrote:I for one am happy to see 2nd edition type figs. After I wrote that last post i read Anthony's post in another thread that said something about a Dwarf with a chainsaw...that may be enough to make me break the GWUS embargo.
