As there is no requirement to form teams until Friday evening (i.e. when you can see who is doing well, etc), it would be possible for players NOT to enter formally before the Fri evening and only at that point to pull together as a creme de la creme team, thus giving the [insert nominated country to represent here] team the best chance of winning the event.

Interesting point Mr Geoff. Do you see alot of people doing that?lucifer wrote:As there is no requirement to form teams until Friday evening (i.e. when you can see who is doing well, etc), it would be possible for players NOT to enter formally before the Fri evening and only at that point to pull together as a creme de la creme team, thus giving the [insert nominated country to represent here] team the best chance of winning the event.
Surely the foreign coaches will be forming teams with their mates as will league buddies, which could leave not many for you Porritts Uber Team or as some may call it "Geoffs got no mates so found 5 other chumps"

I'd call it "Gorbad finally wins something by offering money to the top-5, even though he lost all his games"Hangus wrote:Interesting point Mr Geoff. Possible I suppose if people really want to try and abuse the format. There is no official requirement to enter a team in advance.lucifer wrote:As there is no requirement to form teams until Friday evening (i.e. when you can see who is doing well, etc), it would be possible for players NOT to enter formally before the Fri evening and only at that point to pull together as a creme de la creme team, thus giving the [insert nominated country to represent here] team the best chance of winning the event.
Between tickets going on sale and well in advance of the event there will be pre-registration of teams.
Friday evening is about organising spares and drops outs, not creation of uber teams.
This inaugral NAF WC is about getting as many people together from as many different countries as we can, providing a great time for all, open to everybody yet still retaining a competitive edge and giving everybody the chance for the team experience and still adding some national flavour.
It's not an easy balance.
Maybe the next NAF WC in 2011 will involve qualifiers and truly trying to establish a WC winning nation from amongst the elite players from each country.. who knows?
But not this year!
