stupid question

Post by plaguelord »

I've just recently dusted off the ol' bloodbowl kit and am starting leauge up with a few mates.
I hope somebody would be kind enough to clarify a handful of questions with the new rules:

1. If a team commits a foul, but isn't spotted by the ref, do they still receive the penalty from being under the refs scrutiny. (ie the +2 modifier)
or is the penalty only applied once a team is spotted?

2. Star players are the only characters with access to weapons...and they can only be included as freebooters. Are there any rules (house or otherwise) for including weapons into a normal team or creating starting characters proficient in their use?

3. Are there any websites/articles detailing the creation of home-made blood bowl pitches (I've seen a few pics smattered over the net, and I'd love to try and put one together)

4. What is the only mammal that uses poison as a defence mechanism?

Thanks to any coach who can help!

yer if you commit a foul the ref watches that team no matter what the roll was, its more a sending off roll rather than a spotting the foul roll.

just have to freeboot star players at the moment if you want offical rules, might be some other rules somewhere

some web sites can't tell you where though

There's an article about this in Blood Bowl magazine 4.

1: The eye is on you whether you're caught or not.
2: There are a load of experimental secret weapons rules. Check the magazines and compendiums (I think compendium 2 had them). Failing that check on the web
3: Magazine 4 (or was it 3?) had an article on making home-made pitches.
4: The Platypus is the only mammal that uses poison as a defence, sneaky monotreme that it is.

Sorry you guys are losing me, does the +2 penalty for fouling apply ONLY once you team has been caught commiting the foul?

Well done on the platypus question, what the f*&2 was that poison tongue stuff? Anyway heres another arbitrary trivia question:
What is the only mamal apart from the platypus to lay eggs?
(If anyone answers "Skink matron" I'm going to jump onto the highway)

One of the other 3 members of the Monotreme order. You're probably thinking of the Echidna, but there's 2 other Echidna-like monotremes as well.

Yes, I did biology in High school.

Without the eye on you you're sent off on a roll of 6 if you foul. With the eye on you you're sent off on a 4+.
Committing a foul moves the eye, not being caught.

Can I just add that - bleieve it or not - Koalas have poisonous claws too. Not sure that its a defence mechanism, but they do.

Platypuses are cool. Wouldn't you just love to see that Crocodile Hunter guy get taken out by one of those bad boys?
(Robin Williams' bit on how God created the Platypus: Comic genius.)

I'm inclined to believe that koala's don't in fact have poisonous claws, i could be wrong, and yes i would like to see the croc hunter taken out by a platypus, orby just about anything. Is it actually big over there in Sweeden?

I'm 90% sure that Koala's do have poisoned claws.
I'll try and find some verification.

The Crocodile Hunter is one of those programs that they use to fill up a half hour gap in the schedule where they haven't got anything better to show on one of the five major swedish TV channels. He pops up on Discovery a lot too.

Can't find much. What I have found suggests that getting scratched or Bitten by a Koala is generally a bad idea, because their claws and teeth WILL have poison on them, but that that poison originates from the Eucalyptus leaves they eat.

Apparently yon fuzzy has a complex Toxicology lab in his guts.

Poisonous gum trees, thats a laugh. If they were actually poisonous then they wouldn't let keepers hold them in their arms while the tourists pat them for photos at the zoo.

For fouling:

You are ejected on a result of 6+.

If the Eye is not On You and you foul: Your opponent makes an unmodified roll to eject your player, and the Eye starts watching you regardless of whether your player was ejected or not.

If the Eye is On You and you Foul, your opponent makes an ejection roll at +2. The Eye remains pointed where it was.

The Eye only resets (i.e. starts watching nobody) at the end of the half.

Thads: You're on drugs. Koalas do not have poisoned claws. You're thinking of Drop Bears. Easy mistake for a foreigner to make.
