Dwarf Alchemist Freebooting vs Hiring?
In the LBR rules it states that Dwarven Alchemists have to be freebooted. That's a bit useless (much like Dwarf Blitzers) and I'm wondering if any of y'all have changed the rule in your leagues.
We were thinking of ditching the "fluff" reasoning and just letting dwarfs freeboot wizards as normal.
Thanks!

I try very much to keep this website as up to date as possible with all experimental rules for teams.
You can find the rules for Runesmith here.

I want to hire an ALCHEMIST!
Freebotting often wastes your money! The runesmith is good, but.....
PLEASE MAKE THE ALCHEMIST AN OPTION! I suggest you add that the runesmith can can cast a spell that influences the crowd to throw a D6 worth of money at your coach's feet when the game ends!

Maybe replace the Spell Fizzles -option with "Succesfull alchemy" that gives you d6 more money at the end of the game. Then at least the money isn't completely wasted...

But Mestari ... all the wizards have the chance to have the money be wasted. So the Runesmith should as well.Mestari wrote:Maybe replace the Spell Fizzles -option with "Succesfull alchemy" that gives you d6 more money at the end of the game. Then at least the money isn't completely wasted...

dwarf alchemist
With my dwarf team i freeboot the dwarf alchemist everytime. U pay 30k for him . on a roll of 1 or 2 u lose money , on a 3 u even , on a 4,5,or 6 u make money. 4 in 6 times u break even or make money. I take those odds everytime. In long run u make more then u lose with them.

ya but thats an extra 15k u wouldnt have from before. cant see why ppl dont like it? u spend 30k to make an average of 45k. u have more money u buy more players. thats why ppl hate it in my league when u run dwarfs u get more money then the average other team. I would love a return on investment in real life like that hehe. and u still could buy the blitzer after game 3 also, and have 45k more then u would if u wouldnt get the alchemist every game.

uH .... your math is wrong, my friend.baughman wrote:u spend 30k to make an average of 45k.
The average amount earned by an Alchemist over the long term is 35k a game not 45k. Since he costs 30k to freeboot, that means that over the long haul you'll earn an extra 5k a game. Or 14 games of freebooting the alchemist just to buy a Longbeard.
Trust me ... the Runesmith is a much better direction for the rules to go.

HEHE thats like tellen your boss U dont want a .50 an hr raise because it isnt enough. 5k is 5k to me. I not tryen to pick a fight. just sayen even an extra 5k is better then nothen. sorry on the math , just pulled the math from the post above mine before. Ya it is a gamble maybe u always roll 1s. but u are more like to make the 5k every game. guess I just stupid. every coin counts. guess i just a scrooge hehe. if it takes 14 games to get another player. thats still one more player then u had before.
havent read about the runesmith yet. prob would be better. but anything i can spend 30k on and get 35k back with out haven to do anything i gonna do everytime. True the fluctuation over the short term would be high, but thats what makes it even more fun. Guess I invest to much and play to much poker. I love the swing of it .
