Please help. Hobgoblin just got new skill, what to get him

Post by MatsFredrickson »

I just played my first game, and one of my Hobgoblins got a skill, and I rolled a double 6. Should I go for the strength, get dodge, or just go for my original plan and give him Sure Hands? Thanks for the help.

Take the ST good man! There's absolutely no reason to give that up!

Next skill block and you have an excellent, although fragile, blocker in your team. Dodge when you roll doubles for the next time.

I agree, go with the Strenght. Is there ever a situation where you choose to wave a Str-increase on a Str3 player? I can't think of one.

You can always take Sure Hands or some basic skill like kick on the next Hob that gets an increase. Make this Str 4 Hob your special defensive Blitzer. This keeps your BC's free for offense.

Go for ST+!

Although i kept complaining about not having a Dirty Player (it was my only skill on a HobGob), having a ST4 Hobgoblin after the 2nd game was one of the things that helped me win the T5:2. Without any other skills, he scored 5 TDs in the last 3 matches, just a great centerpiece for that cage, a perfect answer to leaping strip ball players.

Of course skip the ST+1 and take Sure Hands. You can roll double 6s all the time, but it is REALLY hard to roll a normal skill.
.... wait, someone just tells me, that double 6s are rare....
Ok, then choose the ST! After that, keep the player in the reserves ALL THE TIME. You can't afford to lose a player with a rare ST+1.
.... wait, the same guy just tells me, that the player would be useless then ...
Aw, whatever, I got no talent for this game .... :D

Whatever you do dont take the ST+1. It'll be absolutely no use at all in the long run.

You've got plenty of time later to get a ST increase, and hopefully it'll go to a Bull Centaur.

My No 1 choice would be to go for Block, the most underutilised skill in the game

Take the STR.

There's really no question. STR upgrades should be taken at every single opportunity.
