Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
Sure, but let's figure out what to include and what not to before we do that.

What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
Indeed. LRB6 is counter-intuitive in some ways. My choices in LRB4 were very very different. Also, some of that is probably style: I've got this lino fixation... I'll italicize the ones I think are boutiquey.
Feel free to call them out specifically. Even better, more rosters please.

Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
Added on P11. Let's get some more input before updating the front page or redesigning the thread.
We should probably have a thread for peak rosters in different environments. Examples.
Amazons
Matching: 4 Blitzers, 7 Linewomen, 2 RR, Apoth: 860k (plus skills and FF)
Perpetual: 4 Blitzers, 9 Linewomen, 3 RR, Apoth: 1010k
Scheduled: 4 Blitzers, 2 Catchers, Thrower, 6 Linewomen, 4 RR, Apoth: 1120k
Dark Elves
Matching: 4 Blitzers, Witch, 6 Linemen, 2 RR, Apoth: 1080k
Perpetual: 4 Blitzers, Witch, 7 Linemen, 3 RR, Apoth: 1200k
Scheduled: 4 Blitzers, 2 Witches, Runner, 6 Linemen, 3 RR, Apoth: 1320k
Max Positionals: 4 Blitzers, 2 Witches, 2 Assassins, 2 Runners, 3 Linemen, 3 RR, Apoth: 1370k

Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
Hoping to not have to update it too much.
Here's what we can do at this point.
You may nominate any roster you've used with success or seen used with success. Don't specify money left in Treasury vs. spent on Assistant Coaches, Cheerleaders, or FF: just call it all Treasury… unless you think that it's really important to that roster specifically (not just preference or rounding error).
If you think that roster is sub-optimal, italicize it. If you think somebody else's roster is sub-optimal, say so and I'll italicize it. Please, try not to get hard feelings if this happens to your roster.
I'll play arbiter on whether a roster should get italics or not, but not on whether it should be posted: if you put it up and don't ask to amend it, I'll put it up.
Example, No-Blitzer Humans will probably be italicized, but if you post them so will I.
Here are a couple others I've seen get far in rookie KO tournaments, and would probably do well in rookie leagues too.
Dark or High Elves
Sturdy: Blitzer, 10 Linemen, 3 Re-Rolls, Apothecary
Humans
Griff: 11 Linemen, 2 Re-Rolls, 350k Treasury
Wizard: 4 Blitzers, Thrower, 6 Linemen, 2 Re-Rolls, 170k Treasury
Necromantic
Sturdy: 2 Werewolves, Golem, 2 Wights, 6 Zombies, 3 Re-Rolls, 20k Treasury
Wood Elves
Air-Raid: 2 Wardancers, Thrower, 3 Catchers, 1 Re-Roll

Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
Shall I do a post with all the best builds on then you can just add the crazy ones after that?

Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
Post your builds here, we'll consolidate them into a new thread after. Focus on optimal ones; re "crazy" builds (in italics), try not to let it get too random, just look at stuff that you've actually used or seen used with success in LRB5+. Part of the goal is to show how the underlying "best practices" work.

Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
These are the Jimmy rosters I don't have
CD 2 BC, 6 CDB, 4 Hobgobs, 2RR, 20k: I hate 2RR rosters, but I'll include it.
Chaos Pact Elf, Troll, Goblin, 9 Marauders, 4RR, Apo: that's not bad.
Goblin 2 Trolls, Looney, Fanatic, Bomb, Pogo, 8 Gobbos, 4RR: no cash reserve to induce bribes?
Halfling 2 Trees, 10 Flings, 1 RR, 400k: Me likey.
Lizardmen Krox, 6 Saurus, 4 Skinks, 2RR, 20k: more 2RR rosters, but I understand the instinct.
Norse Snow Troll, 2 Ulfs, 9 Linos, 3RR, 10k: Oh, yes, the Troll roster. Gotta have that.
Ogre 6 Ogres, 8 Snotlings: thanks! But 0 RR? That's terrible.
Orc 4 BOBs, 4 Blitzers, 3 Linos, 3RR, 30k: oversight on my part. I'll include it.
Skaven ROgre, 2 Blitzers, 3GR, 5 Linos, 3RR: again, need a big guy roster. That's a good one.
Slann Krox, 2 Blitzers, 8 Linos, 3RR, 10k. again.
Vampire 4 Vamps, 8 Thralls, 3RR, 30k: I'll call it "risky business"
And the ones I do

Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
Maybe call of all my rosters "Fantastic" so that everyone will be able to spot the best one at a glance
The Lizardman roster is far and away better than one with no Krox.
I would say that 4 Vamps is the standard, 3 is safe. The 6 Vamp start is the risky one!
Yes the Ogre roster is terrible, but it's not as bad as starting with only 5 big guys and spending 140k on rerolls that are totally not worth it.
I like maxing the Goblin roster out to start with, 4 RR means they can attempt crazy stuffs and I prefer 14 mens to bribes and less mens.
The alternate Nurgz roster you have is random and pointless. The no Beast start that I tend to use in MM is 4 NW, 3 Pests, 4 Rotters, 2 RR, 20k.
Don't forget that my Dwarf roster only has one runner and one slayer.

Re: LRB 5 Starting League Rosters
Amazon: A thrower is not bad for a starting team, a passing option for desperate situations, later the first Linewoman that rolls +MA or + AG should become the dedicated ball carrier;Jimmy Fantastic wrote:These are the best starting league rosters, some would change for MM etc.
Amazon 4 Blitzers, 8 Linos, 3RR, Apo, 40k

Vampire 4 Vamps, 8 Thralls, 3RR, 30k
Chaos Pact: I like to start with Ogre and Troll, after a while I fire the Ogre and keep the Troll;
Goblin: 4 RR are too many, 3 are enough;
Khemri: they absolutely need a Thro-Ra to pick up the ball, a Sure Hands player is a must for an AG 2 team (Pouring Rain is a nightmare!), moreover he can (and should) have Leader, saving 50 TV, it's a bargain;
Ogre: starting with 2 RR and 5 Ogres in my opinion is better because rerolls never die and you will pay double price if you don't buy them during team creation; adding an Ogre later will cost you only 140k, while 2 rerolls 280k; RR are very important for 1TTD attempts;
Orc: I like a Thrower for Leader, for the odd pass and to free all the Blitzers so they can block and blitz safely without carrying the ball;
Slann: Blitzers are too awful, I'd like to start with 4 Catcher, 1 Kroxigor and 6 Linemen, adding 1 Blitzer could be something to do later, when the team has already developed some core skills;
Vampire: 4 Vampires and 3 rerolls in my opinion are a recipe for disaster, I'd start with 3 Vampires and 4 rerolls.
The other rosters I didn't comment look fine.
