Well, my new Lizards take the field tomorrow against Lucy's very new Amazons (TR117), and I'm expecting a really interesting game..

I've gone for 6 skinks and 5 saurus, although I really really wanted to go for 1 Krox and 10 skinks just for fun! Anyone that plays Warhammer will know Krox and Skinks are the best of allies, so i thougth that would make an interesting themed team. Sadly, I only had 9 skink models, so, back to the drawing board...

After the game, I'll let you know how I did, or just check out our website and see for yourselves, my new team is The Berberana Dragons..

Wish me luck Anca! :pissed:

Luck norse!

Sure you'll need it, almost on first matches specially if you don't have experience on coaching lizards. I've lost lots of matches before starting to win some
If this can help you: Spread your sauruses on the scrim line, he needs 3 players to roll 2 dice against them. Think twice before follow when blocking with your sauruses, not following will give them more freedom. He has dodge skill on all players, so he can choose when he should stablish contact... try to play your game not his. Keep back your skinks and don't block with them unless is completely necessary (and if done, be sure to throw 2 dice), first do zone defense and try to slow him down untill you have one free saurus to make the blitz.
Again, Luck!

My last match (semifinals chaos cup)

Post by Ancalagon »

Only have to say one thing: I won! :)
Was one of the hardest matches I've ever played and won...
I played against an undead coach who is one of our best coaches. His team had aprox 17 rating more than mine. He had a complete team: 2 mummies with block, 4 wights (2 of them with tackle, another st4), 4 ghouls (2 blodge, 1 dirty player) and a few skeletons (almost 1 had block). He had 3 RR.
The result I rolled on the table (I think was 13) gave me one skill on one of my players for one match... I gave Block to my kroxigor. I didn't hire the wizard.
I started receiving the ball and scored nearly at the end of first part, when he put all his players near my scrim I opened a hole and sent my skinks to his TD zone. I was wining 1-0 but he did one unconscious saurus and 2 injured skinks. Second half was harder and things became worse when he did 2 injuried skinks more and sent off another unconscious saurus. He scored on turn 7 so I had 2 turns to score. I recovered one unconscious saurus. I put my lizards on one side of the field, trying to open a hole and run away from his mummies and stablish a "sure zone" for my 2 skinks. I failed first block :( I didn't have more RR so I lost turn and possiblities of scoring. He did his turn just making some blocks. In my turn 8 there was very few to do... just hit as many players as I could... and I injured one mummy who did not regenerate!! Third time I recovered my other unconscious saurus and received the ball so I was more sure of my possiblities. He had fear of my fast scoring skinks so he put three zombies on scrim, the mummy + st 4 wight behind, the ghouls behind and one player on each wing. I hit again and again, finally I opened a hole when he sent all his players to my scrim and sent my sidestep ball carrier skink through it. I did 2 ilegal procedures due not moving turn marker :x (I was really nervous) but I finally scored :D
I earnt few money (only 50k) and gained 1 FF and my sidestep skink received MVP... I rolled double so now I have one Blodge-sidestep skink :D .
Next match is against Wood elf team... he is complete (1 treemen, 2 wardancers, 1 catcher, 1 thrower, etc etc) any advice? he said he will hire the treeman starplayer. I'll hire the wizard (this time is sure I'll do).

Well done Anca! Sadly, in 2 games, my dragons have let in 8 TDs and scored 0... :pissed:

Aside from MVPs, I've picked up 1 SPP for a completion! Where the hell am I going wrong?

None of it makes any sense, I'm just blocking with the Saurus and Dodging with the Skinks, but I roll a lot of 1s, and my 2 RRs don't last long.. I think even Lucy would agree I'm the unluckiest guy in BB at the moment. Also, in 2 games I have had 2 riots.. I'm quite thankful actually, if it had not been for the riots i would probably have got beaten even worse!!!!

Maybe I should stick to stunties.. anyone want to buy a part used Lizard team?

sad weekend for my team; 2 looses

Post by Ancalagon »

This weekend has been sad for my Quetzacoatl Flyers... I lost Chaos cup final 2-1 on third time against one Wood elf team. He hired star treeman and I hired wizard. Was a really bloody match, I did 5 injured and he did 4 (but nothing serious). I lost because I tried to hit his 2 treemen and this costed me the coverage that my skinks needed, so I lost for not seeing what was really happening and just try to hit. Next time I'll only leave one saurus next to his treeman and use the rest to smash his team. At the end not all was wrong, I win more money than him when rolling for the price (250k vs 100k) and one of my saurus got block and another of the exp. saurus got MB. To reduce my rating after having this amout of money I've bought 2 RR and coverted one experienced skink (who had sidestep and +1 -1 Mo) into Ass. Coach. buying another skink to refill its place. I kept 80k on treasury just to have enough to refill a possible saurus dead.
Next match was against an undead coach. Only I have to say is that I played wrong and had bad luck... this joined to the fact that he had a mummy with pile on who did 5 unconscious which didn't enter the pitch again. I failed a dodge roll which could give me a TD on turn 8 of first half and on the second half he did 1-0 just covering his ball carrier. I had less st so I couldn't break the cage. :pissed:

Norse: Do you understand now my points of view when I said that lizards are not a good team??? you need to play a lot of matches before being comfortable with the team. But don't worry sure you'll improve and maybe you loose first matches but soon they will fear your 6 st 4 players.
About spp well... those are difficult to earn on your skinks... I had luck and most of my mvp went to my saurus... at the end I had 6 of them (nearly half of the team).

This long season ended... my lizards ended on 2nd place. Yesterday I played last match against one woodie team and lost 5-0. I have to say that this guy has lost only one match this league and has played and win all tournaments... a mix of luck and "know how to play". He had two ag5 players and earned enough money to hire treeman starplayer and or jordell to play hard matches.
This is my team list for last match:
1 Saurus (Block/MBlow)
1 Saurus (Block/Ag2)
1 Saurus (Block/Tackle)
1 Saurus (Block)
2 saurus
1 kroxigor
2 skink (Block, sidestep)
1 Skink (Block, Tackle)
1 Skinks (sidestep)
1 Skink (surefeet)
3 Skink
Silibili
Wizard
Apo
4 Assit
3 Cheerleaders
4 RR

Wood elf team (players with skills I can remember from this team)
Starplayer treeman
Jordell
1 Treemen (block)
1 wardancer (ag 5, mo +1)
1 wardancer (guard)
1 Thrower (accuracy, ag 5)
1 lineman (guard)
1 lneman (Block, guard)
1 lineman (dauntless)
1 lineman (dodge, guard)
1 lineman (tackle)
1 runner (block, mo 10, surefeet, sprint)
3 RR + 3 Tournament RR
22 FF
Apo
4 Ass. Coach
3 Cheerl.
This team is not complete, I cannot remember the other 4 payers or their skills

Ancalagon, congratulations for 2nd place! :D :D :D

But what happened that you went down 5-0???

I also found it hard to play against woodies with my Lizzies, but I guess more because I couldn't bring his wardancers down. these guys seem to slice through the skinks like nothing.

My thoughts:
- Lizards need more matches to be as competitive as woodies con be in aprox 10 matches. Our league was a bit short: 9 matches + championships
- I had no much problem with his wardancers, in fact on turn 5 of first half they were all unconscious (including jordell). Although I have to say I should have more than 2 players with tackle.
- I should have chosen break tackle for almost one of the sauruses.
- It's difficult to create a defensive tactic against woodies becase they are fast and can "infiltrate" to hit your ball carrier (a st 2 skink) quite easily. All defensive tactics that work with ag3 or less teams don't work with elves zone defense doesn't work specially against ag5 players.
- He had 4 guard players and this helped him a lot.
- I lost 5-0 because once he scored 3rd TD on 2nd half I only had the option of killing enough players in order he couldn't setup 3 on the scrim, so I forgot about the ball and hit hard. I only did 6 unconscious 1 dead, 2 badly injured. 4 of my skinks were sent off due fouling.[/list]
