Back to topic:

Yesterday I played a league game, my skaven against Humans:

I had bad lucl, really rotten luck, I rolled more or less just 1s and skulls, had 5 times forced turnover bc of doube-1s (where 2+ was needed). He just needed to walk into my half pick up the ball and score (of course he managed every roll). Besides he fouled my positional players and was never ejected even he got the IGMEOY counter. Furthermore I got quick snap and blitz against me, as well. Anyway, in turn 6 he was leading 2:0 and was gonna score again. He could have stalled untill the end of halftime but he didn't. I told him that he could have stalled, cementing his 3:0 lead.
He told me that I was punished enough by my bad luck and that he would stall only at people who deserve that (=assholes).
Needless to say that, when I tried to score in the last 2 turns he rolled a riot, ending the half.
The game ended 3-2 for him bc. I scored in the last turn rolling 6s only. Anyway, we had a good time, and it was challenging for me to try catch up and I did not had the feeling that it was a thrown game from his side.

I've tried stalling on some occasions. But always seen to be beaten up by a blitz of some :pissed: wardancer who leaps through (who do you wright that?) en blitztes with three dice, throwing three star thingies and happelijke ask me to make a choice with die I'm willing to suffer!

Yet, yeh it's tactic if you're in an important match. In a friendly contest however I don't do it because I always want a chance to make more SPP after my touchdown to further upgrade my team. Works quite well I must say! :smoking:

I'm playing a Polish guy in a REBBL challenge semi final. Really starting to get pissed off now, game's just been a long tale of woe and injury for me.
I was heavily outnumbered 2nd half, he stalled for OT (which was fair enough), then I passed 1 of 3 KO rolls (the goblin  ) on my turn 8 and 0 of 2 at fulltime/OT. He wins the kick to recieve, I still manage to get pressure on him and he pulls off an unlikely play with no rerolls to get himself out of it. Yet he still leaves the ball carrier on his own within range of my Ogre, predictably I fail the dodge, go through the armour and put a niggle on him. :-?
Now with all my players prone and my team in a world of hurt he's standing a square from the end zone, completely of of range and I get a mail saying "I need x player to score so he can get a skill. If you don't stand your players up for a couple of turns then I won't foul them.."
That sucks IMO, it smacks of complicity, I don't like it and ain't gonna do it. So I stand up my nearest player, try to dodge towards the ball carrier, fail again...
Let's see if he 'punishes' me by fouling away.
Least enjoyable game of Pbem I've ever played. The guy's not particularly good (or at least inexperienced), made all kinds of errors that he's got away with, he's been lucky with his AV breaks, torn my team a new arsehole and now (IMO) he's taking the piss. Stalling to get the required player to score is one thing, telling me in effect to lie down while he does it or else is quite another... :pissed:

That does suck, and I hope he and his team get punished by karma :D

But thats not stalling, thats being an ass....

I played in a game once - a final. I was 1-0 down with a few turns to go when I seriously injured his Griff (this is several years ago now). He had already injured mine and in those days we allowed serious injuries to be apothecaried at the end of the match. (Not deaths though!)

Anyway - he then asked me to apothecary HIS player right there - for a fee and if my Griff got a niggling injury (we hadn't rolled yet - we used to do that at the end, for suspense value:D) he'd swap with mine...

I said no - so he proceeded to forget about the game and try to destroy my team. He even fouled with the ball carrier - and got sent off... HAHA

He took the hand off and scored next turn, so no harm done.
(Well, other than my -1AV Thrower, -1MA Blitzer and niggled Ogre anyway. Now where's that team development/aging/peaking thread? :D )

Unfortunately, you get that a lot of Fumbbl nowadays. Which furthers the breach between "Soft" team coaches and "Hard" team coaches. The few that are brave enough to play in a crossover match get it quite often. I have played in at least 3 seperate games, against 3 seperate coaches, and been given that ultimatum.

Needless to say, the number of coaches I play with has decreased dramatically.

i don't use that approach myself but i don't think i'd avoid another guy based only on that....of course on fumbbl you have so many opponents to choose from at a given moment you could avoid ppl for far less important reasons than that and still get games.

Well. . . If you see some of these monster Chaos teams in Fumbbl, there are a lot of times when you are much safer on the ground, even if they foul you. In all three of those circumstances I was down to <3 elves, all of which were completely surrounded with 5+ dodges to move, or they were boxed at the edge of the pitch, in the closing turns of the game. Given the choice between the foul, or the PO RSC Mino/chaos warriors near all three of them, the foul wins hands down.

As for not playing them again, yes there are a lot of coaches to play, so you can be choosy. But also there is no league structure, like in Table top, so there is no real advantage to whiping the field in the closing moments, after victory is assured. (Strangely, I realize as I am typing this, I am ussually on the opposite end of this debate)

And as such, the above reason is a great reason not to play that coach again. To paraphrase the other coaches remark, "Make a ridiculously dumb tactical choice, or I will punish you, regardless." If he is going to foul me, then foul me, I can live with that. But don't give Ultimatums that are "Die or Die".

Basketball? Well the widely accepted story is:
The game of basketball was invented in 1891 by Dr. James A. Naismith, in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Since when has Springfield Massachusetts been part of Canada?

Asperon Thorn
Basketball was invented in McGill University (or was it Concordia University?) in Montreal by a (i think it was) rugby coach to keep his players in good shape.

They even show this in a commercial on national TV to make us remember our history. The same series of commercial also shows how Superman and Winnie the Poo come from Canada, among other things.

Zombie, you don't understand emmigration do you?

Joe Shuster was an American citizen. His family was from Canada, but so what. Jerry Siegal (and thus half of Superman) was from Israel by your reasoning.

The creator of basketball was an American citizen who fought in our army. He was an American.

If you are saying that basketball, Superman, Winnie the Pooh and all that other stuff is Canadian because somebody from the creator's family lived in Canada, even though they were an American citizen when they created it then you are just plain stupid. And this is the dumbest thing I have heard. Especially from a FRENCH CANADIAN! Image Unless the person was an eskimo then you have nothing. Quit trying to act smarter than others because you know how to work a search engine.

Is their an emoticon for a TROLL?
