High Elf roster debate:

I started my last HE team with
9 linemen
2 Dragon warriors
7 FF
2 RR

Basically the same start up I used for my dark elves...
Maybe it was 1FF less and a thrower but I doubt...

Yup I was wrong...
I had the thrower on the team too...
For just 10k pass and accessibility to passing skills is indeed worth it!

If I was to do it again I'd maybe go for the 7FF route as the roster is solid without the thrower. Though decision...

If it has to be one of those two, take the second one.

I've been considering that start too, should I restart a HE team.

Though I'll prolly go for the old 11 linemman, 8 FF, 3 RR route when I do that, especially if you're going for 30+ games. leads to a really solid team, imho.

Usually start with mostly line-elves and then build up the rest of the team. Although I've been considering of starting with 1 thrower next time.

Then aim for scoring two TD's in turn with each of your linos, and suddenly you have a very skilled team, and a few position players that complement the team with better stats and skill access.

Although I'd consider dropping a DW for another linelf and bumping the FF to 9 nowdays.

i would do exactly the same as Woody.

Also concedering dropping a DW and a little of FF to get a 3rd RR!

Did you find that starting with only one position player hurt you at all?

i do the exact same thing, it doesn't hurt at all. what you have to remember is that your line elves ARE position players on other teams. having a team full of ag4 means you don't need a thrower or catcher right away. a line elf is just about at picking up the ball and throwing a quick pass as a human thrower.

if i ever played high elves (i don't and won't) that's how i'd do it...just like my dark elves.

I wouldn't start a long term league with only FF1. I would never start any league or tournament with FF1. So I voted Roster#2 because you have a FF9.

Nope, the teams doing well, a lot better than the HE team I tried to run. Currently 3-0, and probably going to win the game it's in now.

Played a friendly yesterday - starting teams. So i took:

3 LW
1 DW
6 LM
1 PW

2 RR

Guess what happpened?

1 dead, 2 serious injuries and a defeat - despite scoring IN TURN 1!

For the league I want 12 elves and an apothecary!

5 Lineelfes have a skill 2 Block, 2 Dodge, 1 Kick
The 6th lineman with skill died.
Appo Fizzled: 2 times (have him for 2 games...)

If you can choose your oponents AND have a luck. It will pay off.
If you have bad luck or cant choose your opponents and draw strong bashy... you have a hard time. Especialy if that Freaking DW gets SI on turn 1 when you only started with 7 players.

So its a gamble...

Never underestimate the power of the elven curse
Facing 7 (seven!) skaven, and I'm losing 2-0, soon to be 3-0.

I can't block, in 4 turns I rolled 4 dice and had 4 1's, the 2nd half started with a 4 turn riot, and I failed a 3+ dodge with a re-roll (2 folowed by 1)
