I'm sorry, but unless you've got 6+ turns you are never going to score with a Wild Animal.

All I need to do is put a TZ on him, preferably with a sidestepper, and ~3 guys forming a line in front of that. Then he realisitically can't get more than a couple of squares further forward without risking several 3+ dodges (without any TRR).

As he has to go first, and you are marking him, he can't handoff or pass either. So the only way for him to get rid of the ball is to get knocked over.

If your foolish opponent lets your WA get the ball with 8 turns, well its probably going to work out quite well for you (unless they've got their own S5/6 player), but this wont happen often enough to plan for it.

well, he could in theory use the wild animal with his ST 5 frenzy to punch a whole in the whatever line opponent sets up ... combine it with a blitz action there's a good chance that he could move forward with that AG 4.

I agree though that it's not really a good 'standard' gameplan, though in certain emergencies it could be a decent backup plan. It's not totally useless imo.

Well, that RO has PO and RSC... :D

What happens if he PO when he has the ball? A TO, right?

I'd take AG4 any day just for fun. Some teams will have a hard time marking the RO properly if you make sure to get him in a cage. And if it fails... then at least the RO has been fed an opponent to block every turn. Hopefully a squishy one.

A rat ogre in out league got AG+ (before you could opt for skill with stat increases) and scored a couple of TD's. Later on he got 2* MA -1 and a claw. He has stuck to inflicting casualties ever since.

I think i have got enough ballhandlers in my team (4 runners, 2 throwers)
to not need the ROgre for Ballhandling. If i was to choose the AG, it would be for safety (meaning, being able to dodge before blitzing, avoiding 2 dice against)

I wouldn't think about giving him a ball, then you don't have controll over where the ball goes, if your opponent plays it right.

And for the occasional time it might be handy that he gets the ball....he already he has a decent AG3 ( i already scored a TD with him)

Not if he's being marked - because he has to hit his marker.

So you'll just give me the ball, and a double turn :D I'd quite happily lose a crappy lineman for that.

That's what I meant, by using the double frenzy attack chances are he'll punch his way straight through the line knocking over that marker in the proces.

He can still move afterwards if blitzing. [/quote]

OOOOOOOOO
OXOOXOOXO
OOOOOOOOO
OOOOBOOOO
OOOOXOOOO
OOOOOOOOO

X = linepud
B = Rat Ogre with ball
O = empty space

I think this is what Ian is talking about. The Rat Ogre doesn't have much of a chance to move the ball up field, since he has to move back once or twice, and then can't get through or around the line.

I was really thinking more like this (not quite as nice case)

Code: Select all

_X_bX__X_
___a_____
____XW___
___X_____
X = my guys
W = Wild Animal

1st block pushes to "a", 2nd block to "b" - that's as far as you can push forward without risking silly dodges (3,3,2 with no TRR). Even if the marker is taken out you've still ended up next to one of my guys so can't carry on moving.

Skaven should have plenty of scoring possibilities, they don't need the RO for that.
:o
If I wanted to score with him, however, I wouldn't give the RO the ball from the start. instead, he should blitz his way into the endzone somehow and then I would throw a pass or make a handoff-with AG4 this should work out (yeah, and then I roll a 1 for the catch, a 3 for the pro roll, the ball scatters out of bounds, back all the way right into the opponents fastest player who catches it...you know! :pissed: )

I would rather think about tackle since his main job is the bashing part! Tackle helps you to bring players down and should keep you out of trouble more (frenzy!). Combined with the prehensile tail it's a nice passive combo, too. :lol:

Yep... but it'd be a nice challenge, trying to score regularly with an AG 4 Rat Ogre. It could make for sóme really entertainig games!

We're talking about an AG 4 WA and not for nuttin but my Mino was my top scorer in my table top Norse team and he had AG 2 before getting break tackle!
It's very easily possible.

It's really not all that difficult either. But like I said, you need to keep the players harassing the RO to a minimum. If you spend your turn blitzing with the RO and then dodging all your linerats out of TZs you're in for a heartbreak.
