Would a Gobbo team with loads of Diving Tackles work?

Post by Joemanji »

I ran a gobbo team for a couple of years, but could never quite make them competitive. In theory, giving every gobbo Diving Tackle as his first skill (apart from doubles!) might make a cunning tactic! Possibly backed up by Side Step as a second skill, although not many players would get to this level.

Individually, the gobbos wouldn't be anything special. But if you had a lot of them, all working together, it might win you some games.

What do you think - a chance in hell? 8)

It might work against elves and Skaven, but against bash teams, I don't think they'd worry much.

Unless you had three gobbos pinning each Elf/Skaven/Dodgy player, though, the opposing coach would simply blitz his way to safety with one guy then proceed to put tacklezones on the rest of your Gobbos.

Why dodge a gobbo when you can block em

Sidestep would probably be wiser first choice.
But a couple of diving tacklers are useful (esp if you play against flings =])

I would switch off, sidestep and diving tackle.

One of my most frustrating games ever was with my woodies against goblins who had at least 6 sidestep/diving tacklers. and some nasty trolls, of course.

I couldn't do a thing. None of the usual tactics worked against that team, and the unusual ones often required so much luck...

OF course, the fact that I started that game with 8 elves, 4 of which were catchers, meant that I couldn't just "block the goblin instead of dodging". especially not if I wanted to get the ball to move.

'Course, the fact that a Wardancer got BH on his first dodge away from a DT'er didn't help either :-)

so yeah, it can be a valid tactic... In the right circumstances.
