Apothecary

Post by SBG »

Bonjour guys!

I was wondering what people do with their apothecary: use it on one of your players with a niggling, or always forget the niggling for the game to come?

I'm asking 'cause I'm playing Chaos Dwarf, and one of my CD's has a niggling. Last game, he would have been sidelined, but I used my apothecary, which cost me the player with the most SPP later in the match (stinking human blitzer :pissed: ). So what's the tendancy?

You've answered your own question. Save your apoc for deaths and stat decreases. In the last turn or two I may use him to gain a tactical advantage.

Does anyone start shaking or break out in a cold sweat before making their apoth dice roll? :puke: Especially when its on a good player.

If you ever find yourself saying "All I must do is not roll a 1", then go and lie down in preparation for what is coming next.

You guys! Look, there's a right way and a wrong way to call your dice rolls.

"All I must do is not roll a 1" - WRONG! And it will get you killed five times out of six.

"I need a 2 or better." Again - WRONG!

Look, those pips, you think they represent the numbers, right? WRONG! They're ears, man!

Yes, it's true. Dice can hear you! They love rolling one less than whatever you needed to succeed.

Fortunately, they're rather gullible. So the trick is to always ask for one MORE than you need.

So, when going for it:

"C'mon, 3 or better, 3 or better..."

You'll get a 2. The die will think it has beaten you. Won't it be surprised!

Or, when dodging away your Amazon:

"4...4...4...4..."

You'll roll a 3 and may continue happily with your turn.

Trust me, this works! :)

I believe this is why the PBeM tool is so brutal. It puts the target number on display in a clear manner, obliterating your ability to fool the random number generator.

That seems like a good idea Chet I must give it a go,but still I get that nagging feeling on my apoth roll,
By the way does any body use team re-rolls on apoths,I dont remember if its in the rules or not but we started doing it so long ago it stuck.My point is the amount of times you roll a 1 on the rr is very funny,I've lost three good players this way :lol:

I ended up with an AV-1 Amazon Blitzer after this sequence:

* Double-skulls block
* Re-roll, double-skulls
* AV rbeak
* Casualty
* AV-1
* Apothecary roll...1

Yep! The High Elves scored on the next turn, too. I'm surprised they stopped laughing long enough to push the ball over the line.

P.S. For the record, you can use TRs on player actions only. Apothecaries and Wizards need not apply!

I just used my Apothecary on an MNG injury. My opponent has seven turns left, but only six players left on the pitch against my ten, so...with any luck, nothing bad happens :)

The first team I played, my Apothecary rolled 1's for 5 rolls straight. It was only after I vowed to kill him, should he fail me again, that he finally succeded in healing someone.

I would have killed the Quack Bastard too, and damm the 50,000.
