I must admit i only played Chaos dwarves once and then i took a mino because they are a bit more fun and unpredictable than Trolls.
But if i had started another team, and had to choose between Mino and Troll i would probably have taken the Troll.

I have both in my Chaos pact team -- got the Mino on the starting roster
for a bit of flavour --- it was the first one in our league.
Basically the Mino lost me two games..... he still doesnt have Block.
The Troll hasnt done anything either --- but I normally only field both big guys on defence these days.
I have a gutter runner with VLL & +1MA --- so although its getting boring,
I just go for the one turn TD on offence & its not worth blocking with a big guy before that happens.
On defence, the Mino stands way back from the LOS & he is there to Block
catchers into the crowd with his Frenzy. The Troll is closer to the LOS next
to a gobbo --- to either chuck him, or make people think I will chuck him.
This can be great if the other teams guy fails to pick up the ball as you can
score if you are lucky
I find that the Mino desnt handle bad dice as well as the troll does, basically.

The CD player in our league took the mino.
He lost 2 games because of turnovers caused by the mino, but now as he has piling on and block (yes he gave po first and got block only 2 games after) he´s a real pain in the a*s!
He´s now much saver (failing his blocks only 1 of 36) and nobody wants to stand next to him forcing him to block (as we did before), because you don´t want to stand next to someone who has ST5, frenzy, block, piling on and mighty blow. He now inficts between 1 and 2 cas per game.
So if the risk at the beginning is Ok for you, I´d take the mino.

If you are so uncertian
I'd take the mini that looks cooler! I just love the troll minis so I would have choose a troll. But if you don't care to paint or care how your team looks, I can't help ya.

I like the troll more, but admittedly the minotaur can become more nasty if developed well as his negative can be pretty much negated through right skills. The development pains however are quite big.

The best thing about the mino is his access to physical traits. This way he can develop into a real monster. But you have to know, that he will most likely cost you a game or 2. But if you are lucky with the dice-rolls and manage to inflict 3 cas in the first 2 games or get a MVP, then with block he will be a real moster, especially with Pilingon, RSC and tentacles.
PO/RSC is the nastiest combo on the pitch, so I would make use of it. With tentacles, you can blitz of one catcher and hold the other one.

Pure case of taste, and how you want your team to develop.
Personally, I think that Minotaurs can be a liability without block to start but eventually develop into superb beasts.
Trolls on the other hand are much more steady - starting better than a mino but following a steady line.
The choice is yours....

So basicly you have to ask yourself what is the situation:
Short league, tournament etc: definitely a Troll
A long league with lots of time for development: Minotaur

I just got a Troll for my CD team .. and it really takes the attention of the other bigguys, so there is more freedom for fast scoring bull centaurs.
But i see the point in getting a Mino instead, if your league is large, you play really often, and you have a nice sense of humour so all those turns wasted by your blockless mino does make you laugh.
For me, it's a Troll the better ...

Troll Question
Thanks for all the imput so far, but I have a question. Everybody keeps saying that Minos are a liability early because they don't have block. But neither do Trolls. What is it that makes Minos so much more of a liability than Trolls early on?

Skavens and their rat ogre are exactly in the same situation.
Read the description of the 'wild animal' trait in the LRB if you're not sure anymore.
Now think about this: what happens when your minotaur has next to him a player with block at the start of almost all your turns, while your player does not have that skill, and in view of the fact that as a big guy, your minotaur cannot use your team's rerolls...
Now imagine replacing the minotaur with a troll. Would you block that same opponent by yourself as your first action at nearly all of your turns if you did not have to?...
