BB2k1 Topics for October

I offered to create a 3rd party site that tracks the clarification, new rules, etc that are the current buzz of the BB community.

This site was suggested to Chet and JKL and they said it sounded like a nice resource for the BBRC to use to hit the "hot" topics in October.

A lot of things have been talked about here lately and I think I grabbed the ones that had merit or caused great confusion. If I missed something let me know.

I would suggested clarifying the Dauntless description to make it clear that you are supposed to roll before every hit (ie' when combing it with Frenzy). I see this question a lot (guys in our league do it wrong too).

i dont like:
Suggestions of note: Allow the Goblin team one permanent secret weapon of choice and the ability to freeboot up to 3 more but that they be random (its what was smuggled in that day).
- do not make it random!

suggestion:
Jump Up be allowed to be used with Pass Block (given that Jump Up is now a trait, it seems pretty worthless ... this gives it a little boost)

add to jump up: use before any actions are declared by that player (so you could jump up...pass to the jump up player...move the jump up player)

??:
Add +1 to the injury roll for each Niggling Injury a player has.

trying go get rid of players??
dont know about everybody else, but i like the players on my team...i dont really like all this extra injury thing (sigurds injury rules saved alot of deaths)...going back to adding injury through niggles isnt the correct manouver...

Stop referring to the Big Guy as an ally. Just state that a Big Guy is a special type of player who cannot use Team Re-rolls and then show which teams can use which Big Guys. The Kroxigor is referred to as a roster player in some places which is confusing.

Just to repeat a post I made a couple of weeks ago on another thread, with additions:
1) Apothecaried players go to the reserves box.
1a) Crowd Surfers may be apothed.
2) My "Cutblock" skill (see the "New Skills" thread) to be added.
*OK, so it won't happen, but I like this skill.*
3) Officialisation of the "Any stat increase may be exchanged for a normal skill" rule.
*as I understand it has ALREADY happened, but got missed.*
4) Ag OR Av on a skill roll of 10.
5) Pow into the crowd: roll for injury from the block before rolling for the crowd beating. SPPs awarded if the block causes a casulaty.
6) Fouling to be left basically alone.
7) Leader and Pro limited to players of 31 SPPs or more (not in the first two skill rolls)
8) Frenzy/GFI question to be officially cleared up.
9) Dauntless/multiple Block interaction clarified

Hey Thads, I like number 7!

Makes a lot of sense and balances out the game too. Some UNSCRUPULOUS players :roll: give Pro to a Big Guy ally so he does get a kind of re-roll... Very cunning, but UNSCRUPULOUS nonetheless! ;)

You really like that word, Norse .. UNSCRUPULOUS *mouth full* :lol:

I particulary love the first of Thadrin's proposals .. Apoths should no longer be INSTANTANEOUS, but require some time to heal the wounds on the player ..

Oh, and rule #5 too .. if the block is strong enough as to make an injury, there is no need for the crowd to take the injury roll ... SPPs should be awarded to the blocker then ..

Under BB Mag #1, every goblin team I saw had either 1 chainsaw and 3 Stink Bombs or 4 Stink Bombs. The weapons are not balanced against each other. Currently the only way the team can get ANY weapons is to freeboot them WITH a star player. This method always the return of the purchased weapon for the team and overcomes the problems that 4th edition demonstrated and would be cheaper than freebooting an entire star. How many Pogo Sticks have you seen in league play?

I'll add it to the list as I've seen the discussion. I'm somewhat concerned that this might move Jump Up into the too good category, but it would definitely make it worth grabbing on doubles.

Actually there isn't enough player turnover in the rules, and actually I don't mind the player turnover. A LOT of the blood was removed from Blood Bowl over the last year (OR instead of AND on Mighty Blow/Dirty Player, no MB/Claw/RSC on fouls, fouling now using blocking assists rules, Multiple Block only effects 2 players, Frenzy only works once). A cry has come out to put a LITTLE carnage back in and nailing aging players has a lot of support as its fits in with the player aging/management rules.

I already have 1, 1a, 3, and 9 in there.

I'll add 5 and 8 as I've seen support for the argument by the community or mass confusion.

6 I trust the BBRC to gauge the community

4 has been discussed ... the proposed change was #3 to make the BB crowd wanting 4 to be happy. You'll get 3, so I'm not sure that 4 is needed or desired. I have not seen a lot of support for AV 9 Wood Elves or AV 10 Orcs.

7 ... I'll watch for support for this idea, but I don't like the rules clutter of putting SPPs caps on skills and there are certain players like my Halfling team who are really looking forward to grabbing Pro on their 1st doubles roll. Leader already needs a doubles roll and Pro is not considered broken in any discussion thread I've seen.

2 ... I'll go re-read the Cutblock skill. I think however that this year was the fine tune the 2001 Rules Review. I don't think you'll be seeing many new skills this year.

Galak - I read your list.

Consider my list a "things I support" list rather than a list of things I think you should add yours. There are probably other things on your list I support too, I just forgot them.

Wasn't there a fair bit of support for the AG/AV thing when it was first mooted a few months back? I don't remember that well.

Yes there was a great deal of support for the AG/AV idea when first proposed. Then someone said what if we just allow any stat increase to be a normal skill and 98.12% of the AG/AV people said okay that sounded like a good plan. It made the AG/AV crowd happy without upsetting the no AV 10 High Elf crowd.

AH. OK. My memory sucks...either that or it was originally a mailing list thing that straddled the server crash, meaning I missed a chunk of the discussion. I only mentioned it because it seemed a god idea at the time.
