I agree with the sentiment that it should be much harder to get really good, but easier to get fairly good. Its the hyper powerful players this is aimed at anyway.
maybe...
(roll NOT to age)
1st: no aging
2nd: 3+
3rd: 5+
4th: 7+
5th: 9+
6th: 11+
7th: 11+
Most players with 5 skills SHOULD have aged at least once, and hopefully twice (1 in 100 will be unaffected)

Agreed, in all the games we've had under this rule,I've seen one player age and that was on his first skill.Anthony_TBBF wrote:If anything, aging needs to be bumped up! It has almost no affect the way it works now, I've been playing under it since it came and I've only had players age twice in all that time. Trust me, it rarely happens the way it is now.
I like the idea that you can get the first skill for free though and then it gets significantly harder the better you are.(I think its Thadrins table)

What do you mean color-coding standard? Do you paint bases different colors based on their position or something? Sounds interesting.Lucien Swift wrote:add "Impliment mandatory base-ring color-coding standard"
Please forgive the new guy. Sounds interesting but I missed whenever you first brought it up.

In original second edition blood bowl the minitures provided were 16 identical humans and 16 identical orcs. The figures came with smll slotta bases and a whole load of coloured rings. this was to allow the different positions of the figures to be denoted.
the colours were:
Blitzers - Red
Blockers - Green
Throwers - White
Catchers - Yellow
Linemen - Grey
(unofficially later) Kickers - Blue.
I think the rings were at some point replaced with bases that were entirely coloured, as above. Remember back then there were no Witch Elves, Slayers, Runners or whatever - there were these position names only.
Most of the current race specific player names can be directly related to positions (Wardancers and Stormvermin being Blitzers for example.)
many of us would like to see all the WFB names removed and all players given proper position names - as far as possible anyway.
Lucien wants to see the rings come back. I'll be painting markings on my Dwarfs if we can ever decide what colour to use for Runners and Slayers.

Aging is an Old Idea...
Yep, I noticed that too. Had the same sort of thing happen in the Locker Room. I suggested rolling the Aging roll first, if the player aged, then no skill roll is made. Acerak shot it down by saying that it had already been suggested and that people didn't like the idea. You can tell Acerak isn't around at the moment. I proposed a very similar progression in a similar thread ("4th Edition Rules" in "BBRC 2K1 Edition") for very similar reasons (i.e., that you could the first skill or so for free) and he shot it down fairly promptly.
I like the idea of aging, but just hate nigglers.[/quote]

Bases
I would really like seeing the colored rings at the bases coming back. I
have painted the edges of the bases of all of my teams already (as this is a house rule in our league).
Some of our coaches have done their own miniature conversion ond by this colour ring it has proven to be much easier to identify this player during a game.
Although I think it should be a major goal to remove the WFB names from Bloodbowl and give every player a position (it may sound a bit silly but you could call a dwarven troll slayer a blocker or an Witch Elf a Dark Elf Catcher ... it has worked in the past so why not again). I think the sports flavour would be really enhanced by this base positions (Thrower, Lineman, Catcher, Blitzer and Blocker).
Further I would really love to see the endzones enhanced by one row each (without downsizing the playing field of course), as this would give a catcher the opportunity to wait for an TD pass or an defender to make an goal-line defence without the risk to be pushed into the crowds

The problem with reducing the length of the playing area is it makes 1TTDs a lot more common. Suddenly that 1 less GFI for GRs, and means human catchers & Lion Warriors can become 1 turners too.
I like the TD zone only being 1 square wide, it makes it much more difficult to goal hang.

Two things that will never see the light of day but which my tabletop league swears by:
1. A player does not have to pick up the ball when entering the square where the ball lies. Choosing not to pick up the ball results in an automatic scatter, but no turn over occurs.
This helps stunty and agility teams and hurst cageball. A more open game is usually more enjoyable in my experience.
2. A Fumble result on a pass will only occur on a roll of a natural 1 (or a modified 1 including only opposing tackle zones). Essentially the passing ranges increase the needed die roll result instead of lowering the roll itself.

Balrog, I agree. My league abandoned the regular fumble rules a long time ago. The came back briefly when we played pure BB2K1 but we quickly went back to natural 1's in the next season.
I have never understood why a longer pass = more fumbles. That is just plain dumb.
IMO the best thing the BBRC could do would be:
Fix the tables...Weather, Kick Off, and Handicap!
Nat 1 the fumble rules
and create some optional rules like secret weapons and random events.
It seems like all we hear about is tweaking this or that will give us 2% more casualties here and there...blah blah blah. Who gives a damn.

Only one problem with the 2 square endzone. It means producing new boards, or at least some kind of "add on".
