That's ok. I don't claim to be a great coach - I'm certainly not up to the standard of the good coaches at the top of the MBBL. Erm, I don't remember playing an online game against you - were you in the MBBL2 last season? If not, then you must be confusing me with someone else.
Anyway, as far as my tips to you on coaching elves, the first thing I'd direct you to is my online Strat. guide.
I've read it already - and I'd like to think that I put most of it into practice. My problem seems to be much more a positional one than anything else. (This also manifests itself with other teams - that's probably why I think Break Tackle is a good skill for a mummy  )

Cheers,
Martyn

Just last night my friend started a Wood Elf team playing his first game against 128TR Humans.

He started with:
1 Wardancer 120
1 Thrower 90
9 Line Elves 630
2 Re-Roll 100
6 Fan Factor 60

He won the game 4-0.
He suffered 2 MNG on Line Elves and inflicted none of his own.
The Wardancer got 2 TD's, a Line Elf got 2 TD's, and the Thrower and 2 other Line Elves each made 1 Completion.
The MVP landed on one of the Line Elves with a Completion so he got 3 Skills for the Match, Mighty Blow for the Wardancer, a ST 4 Line Elf, and a Dodge Line Elf.
His Winnings was 90GP so he purchased an Apothecary and still has 40GP towards his 12 Player.
About the only thing going against him was his Fan Factor going down following a natural 1 one the die.
The funniest part of the game was when the Wood Elves received in the 2nd half and the Humans kick scattered very deep his last action on the first and second turns was trying to pick up the ball and failing (he had dropped Line Elves back to cover the Humans getting it) and on his third turn failing to pick it up again, deciding to use a Re-Roll, managing to get it, then with a series of rolls managing to throw a Long Pass after taking an extra square to bring it down from a Long Bomb (his 'Hand Off' Elves had flattened by the Humans trying to get deep on the Ball) Catch it and Score :)

It can be a problem. Elves are expensive and when they die they can't be replaced instantly. That's why you start with as much ff as possible. After the first game you buy an apoth. The good news is that 10 elves are a better team than 11 of most other players. :)

Well it's kind of a balancing act. You have to use him but only when you need to, if that makes sense. When I set up for defense, I put 3 on the line of course, 7 guys 2 spaces off the line to protect the flanks and such, and then the WD 2 spaces behind them. He's very well protected there, yet his 8MA lets him get about anywhere. Then you use him like a 'sniper', going in and making an important blitz, or whatever the circumstance dictates, but whenever possible you don't leave him where he can get hit without a blitz.

However, if you DO have to leave him in such a place, you hope block and dodge is enough to save him. Just don't get the opponent any more shots than you have to. That's the balancing act. :)

Also don't play dwarves in your first game if you can avoid it. :)

My usual tactic with a WD + dauntless is to first move a line elf with guard next to the opponent's big guy, blitz with the wd and then sneak back behind the other line elves. This worked especially well when most of the teams in our league were new, because not many big guys had blocks yet.

Thanks, I REALLY need to update it to the newer rules though. :)

But I'm glad it's helped.

As to Martin's issues about player positioning and placement I'm not sure how it would be possible to give advice regarding such a complicated matter. I guess I'd just have to play you online or something.

And in a related Q, I was not in MBBL2 last season. In fact I haven't played online BB for over 2.5 years, tho I am looking into getting active again.

In which case, we haven't played online. You must be confusing me with someone else - shame, it's always nice to receive compliments. :)
