Has anybody ever made a miniature BB set?

Link worked fine for me...

This is such a great idea. I won't be building one any time soon, but someday... someday I might.

I think I'd make the small block dice out of wood. I think the templates would be best on stiff overhead transparencies (as you can print some). The ball might be problematic. Another magnet perhaps?

I think I'd go for stronger rare earth magnets, just to be sure. I'd probably go for some manufacturer's 15mm fantasy minis. Reaper maybe.

Great idea.

Problem with using "strong" magnets is that there's a lot of them in close proximity...so you don't want the magnets to affect each other, just stick to the board.

So Rare Earths might be going a bit overboard.

One possibility for representing the minis:

four-siders!

Paint each end of the pyramid with a distinct colour:

Let's say:
Black = stunned
White = Standing
Red = down

And as there is one end free, thos of you who like to mark which of the players have moved, can use it as

Blue = done already for this turn.

The end which is pointing upwards tells the state of the player. Alternatively paint these colours not the the top of each side, but as a lin to the bottom, whichever suits your taste.

And the sides of the pyramid:
There are four sides:
One is always lying downwards, so if we paint:

2 sides to represent the team and
2 sides are base-coloured according to the "coloured base-rings"-colouring scheme to make it easy to spot which position the player is.
Then all of this info will always be available.

In addition, the players number is painted with an appropriate colour on top of each side.

Adding the magnet might be little hard, but otherwise a good way to have all the necessary information easily noticeable?

I suppose so. I figured with a 15mm miniature on them, and just a moderately strong rare earth magnet, you probably won't get any clumpage.

It's just that I've played magnetic games in cars before, and they magnets that come with them never seem to be strong enough.

If you're looking for some figures for your travel BB set, you might want to consider buying a pack or two of those (15mm?) medieval plastic miniatures that you can get from model shops, made by revell, heller, italieri, etc. You get about 40 or so minis for about £4.00, and they are very easy to convert to bloodbowl characters with just a few weapons snips with a sharp knife. Although a few poses are too military, there are quite a few running guys, guys with upraised arms, etc. In terms of teams, you could probably assemble squads of humans, Norse, Brettonians, even High Elves (lots of them have light armour and helmets, so with a well chosen colour scheme, they could make quite nice (and very affordable) mini-representations of bloodbowl guys. The size of the miniatures is quite good too, bigger than piddly epic scale figures and Warmaster , but considerably smaller than your standard BB mini.

I bought about 8 boxes of them a while back (french / english foot knights/soldiers, barbarians, etc) to make a mini version of Warhammer, but most of them have been languishing in their boxes for ages. Funnily enough, I then had the idea to make a mini blood set-up with them myself not so long ago!

If u want the descriptions of the most appropriate sets (in my opinion anyway) let me know, and i'll dig them out and have a look. Reckon you could build yourself 4 or 5 teams for under £12.00, and have them painted up in a day or two. Being plastic though, they would need some kind of weighting or stabilising base to stop them flying everywhere when u hit turbulence! :)

Good luck with it anyhow! John.
