Question on fouling

Post by Daguun »

Let's say you have the following position with player "F" fouling a prone opponent:

Code: Select all

. . . . .
. . O X .
. F o . .
. . . . .
Legend:
  F : Fouler
  X : Fouler Teammate
  O : Opponent
o : Prone opponent (being fouled)
What is the bonus on this foul? +3 or +4?

My opponent stated that it was +3 arguing that the fouler was in an opponent's tackle which negates his usual +1.

I say he should read the rules again.

What do you guys think?

As far as I know, the rules have been changed now to state that defensive assists may be given, so your opponent was right; +3 on the armour roll.

I believe you are referring to the line that says no player may offer a defensive assist if he is in a tackle zone.

"Defending players may also give assists to a player that is being fouled. Each defensive assist modifies the
armour roll by -1 per assist."

PBeM gives it a +4.

Aren't fouling assists now calculated exactly like blocking assists? (except for Guard)

Thats right. Like all assists you can only give them if you are not in the tackle zone of an opposing player. This means that the answer is +3.

plus 4...one for each of the guys at the bottom of the diagram and one for the fouler.. The opponent cannot assist as he is in an opposing tackle zone.

With the +1 for fouling factored in, this is a +4 foul.
