BBMag3 Mixed Race Rules
As opposed to the godawful male chicken up Jervis made of the Undead teams, the mixed race rules ROCK. Major kudos to Chet and Dean.
I threw myself together a nice little old world team:
2 Dwarf Longbeards 140
6 Human Linemen 300
1 Dwarf Blitzer 80
1 Human Thrower 70
1 Ogre 120
2 Halflings 60
2 Rerolls 160
7 FF 70
Anyone fancy a PBeM game to test them out?

Summary: There are three lists - Chaos Pact (all the "Evil" races, including the Norse!), Old World ("good" races) and the Lustrians (Amazons, Lizards....and Norse!).
These each have two Bog standard lineman options: Marauder/Beastman for Chaos, Human/Longbeard for Old World, Linewoman/Skink for Lustria.
To these you can add selected allies - either two linemen from each race, or one Position player. You may also have two or Three Big guys, but only one of each allowed type!
The rerolls are VERY expensive, but now you too can build your own Chaos All-stars!
Job is most definately a Good'un.

I think they are.
The cost of the rerolls HURT. 90k for the Chaos pact team, 80k for the Old World team. The Chaos team has huge growth potential, but come the season it's 180k for a new reroll, and you won't be starting with more than two of them...ouch.
I tried putting together a roster with as beardy a roster as possible, including two big guys...I came out with a twelve man team, with 1 reroll and 3 FF. Not good. You CAN put together competitive rosters, but certainly nothing too scarey.

You're on. I'll throw together an HTML Roster for the Old World team I had planned tonight and we'll PBeM it over the weekend. I'll PM over my mail address: if you can send me an HTML roster for your team I'll set the game up.

I absolutely hate it!
The allies seem as overpowered as they've ever been, and like they were before, will still be the single thing i hate most about Blood Bowl. May they never become official. This thing will most certainly be the worst thing ever to come out of BBmag3. It's a disgrace to all self-respecting Blood Bowl fans out there.
I'm being way too kind here and not even coming close to expressing my level of hate for these rules.

OK, I feel that the "Pacts" system is better than the old ally rules. However, I believe that there are too many options open to a coach to develop a good running, bashing and passing team. Lets take the Chaos pact. Sure the rerolls are expensive. But start with the following roster and you can get 3 upfront:-
OK not the best starting roster... but you have 3 rerolls and 8 players with Block, 1 with catch, a good thrower with AG 4 and 2 safeties with Horns.
If you want a slightly stronger roster and sacrifice a reroll, you could start with:-
If you manage to stave off injuries, you may end up with (and yes I know that this will take a long time!):-
1 Minotaur
1 Ogre
1 Troll
1 Black Orc Blocker
1 Chaos Warrior
1 Dark Elf Thrower
1 Gutter Runner
1 Norse Catcher
1 Goblin
1 Norse lino
1 Beastman
As your 11 starting players - of course you could start another Beastie or Norse lino instead of the Gobbo (but this gives you the TTM 1 turn scoring option) - plus there are several other powerful options. In addition, since all the players bar the Big Guys can use Team Rerolls you have have an allied team with variety and no major weaknesses (although having only 1 of each position player is a weakness). Can you develop a team like this with the current winnings table? Who knows?.... but the simple fact is that no straight roster has a chance of developing a team like this. Want 3 players with AG 4? dump the Dark Elf Thrower and add in 2 Dark Elf Lineman. You could then take a Norse blitzer instead of the Norse catcher. Want a bit more speed?... take an Orc Blitzer instead of the BOB.
Is it balanced? I don't believe so. But only play testing will tell.
Dave
Code: Select all
7 Norse lino 350k
2 Beastman 120k
1 Dark Elf Thrower 90k
1 Norse Catcher 70k
Total 630k
Apoth 50k
3 rerolls 270k
FF (5) 50k
Total 1,000k

I've just read the full article and it does say two linemen of each race or 1 positional player of each race. Hmm overkill, perhaps a combination of two linemen in total or 1 positional player would work better.
anyway
Chaos pact
0-12 Chaos marauders 50k 6 3 3 7 Block
0-4 Chaos Beastmen 60k 6 3 3 8 Horns
Re-roll : 90k
Allied races: Orc, Skaven, Dark Elf, Goblin, Chaos, Norse
Big Guy: Minotaur, Ogre, Troll
Am i correct in assuming that thisa team could hire a total of 12 linemen allies and 3 Big Guys.
Old World Teams
0-12 Human Linemen 50k 6 3 3 8
0-4 dwarf Longbeard 70k 4 3 2 9
Re-Roll 80k
Allied races: Human, Dwarf, High Elf, Halfling, Wood Elf
Big Guys: Ogre, Treemen
Lustrian Teams
0-12 Amazon linewomen 50k 6 3 3 7 Dodge
0-4 Lizardmen Skinks 60k 8 2 3 7 Dodge , Stunty
Re-Roll 70k
Allied races: Amazon, Lizardmen & Norse
Big Guys: kroxigar,Ogre

Only lineman for allies? so Dave can't be right i guess.
Or maybe i didnt understood.
Thadrin, give us a great team you can have with those rules and we will the the balanced or not.
If Dave is right, the rules are not balanced.
