undead changes

Post by valedictor »

Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction for information regarding the upcoming(?) changes to the undead line-up, be it a relevant thread on here, or some other source.

Spotted a lot of comments on the changes all over the place, but not the actual proposals themselves...

Many thanks, John 8)

Why does the werewolf need catch? That seems really silly. The Undead are traditionally a "punch `em up" team. Why add throwers and catchers? If you want to develop the pass game then fine but why force it on a team that never asked for it? And why add a "catcher" to a team with 4 wights and 4 ghouls? Huh?

I know that we are getting the "try it you'll like it" line right now but I don't think I need to try it. I don't like it...at all.
I have no desire to try these teams. They look ridiculous.

doesn't make pleasant reading even through my rookie eyes... it was worse than i had feared (especially as i only just finished painting my lovingly all-converted undead team...sniff...)

fear not val... this one reeks of "experimental rules" and will prolly go quietly like 4e...

well, kinda quietly anyway...

i should do something quietly for a change...

I hope it goes away. I hope that most stand up say, "NO WAY!" "Give me undead or give me...death." Okay well, that doesn't really work here but you know what I mean! USA! USA! WHOO HOO!

Ok. I didn't like the way the roster looked at first either, until the theme was presented to me.

The Necromatic Undead are supposed to look like the cast from B movies.

Frankenstien, Werewolf, Zombies... you get the picture (no pun intended).

After I was clued into that theme, then things fell into place for me.

Well I don't care what the 'theme" is or what the positions are called. They still look stupid. Why is the werewolf a catcher? Where does that fit into the "theme"?

If they're going for the B-movie type team I would:
1) remove the wights
2) have 2 werewolves with MA 6
3) add a vampire
4) change the name to Scream Team

All the aspects of a classic B-movie thriller... my undead coach would just die over a roster like that.

Does the Khemri head coach have Raise Dead? If yes, what does he create, skeletons?

Does anyone have any insight into what the proposed new Vampire team will look like? (to be published in BBmag 4)

Like I said ... its very similar to Milo's old Halloweenies team that we use a modified version of in the MBBL2:

http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBLTeams/Halloweenies.html

However, I'm going to email Jervis. That team is just not very pleasing to the eye ... and the pun of the fetching Were is just ... pardon here ... dumb.

Give the team some bite ... if not Vamps then at least make the Weres the correct 2E translations:

Here is a team that is very similar to the existing one but doesn't have 11 positional players and a very corny werewolf that doesn't match up with the 1E or 2E edition ones at all.

NECROMANTIC TEAM LIST

Qty Title Cost MA ST AG AV S&K
0-12 Zombies 30k 4 3 2 8 Regen G
0-4 Ghouls 70k 7 3 2 7 Dodge G/A
0-2 Wights 90k 6 3 3 8 Regen, Block G
0-2 Werewolf 110k 7 4 2 8 Mighty Blow, Break Tackle, Frenzy G/S
0-2 Flesh Golem 110k 4 4 2 9 Regen, Stand Firm, Thick Skull G/S
Re-roll counter: 70.000 gold pieces

There a good mix. 4 Blitzers type and 4 Catcher types with 2 good LOS folks.

The first MBBL league and the current MBBL2 has tested that version of the were for 2 years now. Its a direct translation of the 2E werewolf players ... ie its match the old fluff 100%. If you want to add additional spice to the team allow the Weres to get Regeneration (as only silver could kill them) and/or Razor Sharp Fangs on doubles.

Presto ... there is a Necromatic team that makes sense ... oh and it has the added bonus that it follows ALL the rules on the team building guidelines page ... is balanced on my old discount formula if you ignore the Zombies (like you had to with the old Undead) ... and even PH's Team Balancer spreadsheet likes it.
