you would likely know if you had a diamond cutting wheel or not... they're quite silver and shiny :) also they cost much more than normal cutting wheels - I couldnt say whether you had one included in your pack when you bought it, altho I would lean towards the fact that you're using standard cutting wheels and not diamonds. diamond wheels cost ~$6 apiece if i remember correctly, but you will go through one in the same time you might go through 6 normal ones, or more.

I agree with mel, if you could c-clamp the blade to a table and then cut the handle off that way, you'd be much safer. and even then depending on how close to the handle you clamped down, if you still have vibrations you just need to steady the handle with one hand which should cut out a lot of unnecessary A)danger and B)wasted blade movement which likely is resulting in much less effective cutting

AH ... then I'm only using the normal cutting blades ... I asked for a diamond one for Christmas and must not have gotten it ...

C Clamps didn't work. The top of the dagger is just too large and wide in all directions for the dremel to line up with the base. Have to come in flat along the blade.

HOWEVER ... I have a anvil/vise clamp that I use for my miniatures that I didn't think of until this discussion ... that would probably work if I put the dagger in flat and tightened up on the edges of it ... not the most stable clamp position ... but should be a lot safer. I might try that.

you probably have "reinforced" cutting wheels. they're tougher than normal cutting wheels, but like i said you'd definitely know if you had diamond ones :)

most cutting wheels look like they do in the second item on this page... the diamond wheel is second from the bottom. http://www.dremel.com/html/home_fr.html So you know what to look for if you go into HD or Lowe's looking to get one at any point (oof, it looks like my earlier price estimate was way off too. i forgot what i paid for mine, but a quick google found one for ~$21 somewhere :o Still... I know i paid less than $20 for mine, and they're worth it :D)

They now have a mini saw blade ... oh I could have used that this weekend when I was trying to cut out a hole in a cabinet for my wife and my jig saw broke. Sigh ... another item for the Christmas list.

And yeah ... I'm using a normal cutting wheel ... not the diamond one ... better make that two items for the Christmas list.

International:
Frank
Indigo
Deathwing
Darkson
Grumbledook
Torg
Dave
l_dagnaut
Lycos (wants 2 with 1 for Venomous Breath)
Piepgrass

International non-PayPal
Sallacious
Odin

That's leaves me two short for this order. I'll see what I can do ... but for the 1st batch I'd prefer to turn this around quickly so I'm going to take the PayPal folks first which right now matches the 11 I'll have soon. Which means Odin and Sallacious will have to wait for the 2nd batch ... sorry guys. I really hate money orders ... had very bad luck getting money orders from my Ebay auctions in the past .... its just me ... but I'm willing to get you one after I turn the first lot around but I'll expect no responsiblity if the Money Order is lost in the mail.

Oh damn, I missed out on them... Don't check the board for a couple days and see what happens?

If there's a second batch I'd love to get in on them...sigh. :-?

Anything I say is totally opinion and (knowing my luck) probably completely wrong. Keep this in mind.

I'll add you to the list Dragoonkin. I'll get a 2nd batch as soon as I get the first one paid for. I have some funds but getting a whole case of these guys before the 1st one is paid for is a bit much.
