Weird - The city I live in has a total of three shops that sell GW stuff. There's a tiny little games shop way out of the center of town, only open for browising about 6 hours a week.
One of our league members works there, and said they had the mag in.
I got a copy of the mag from there about a week ago.

So how come there are enough copie of the mag to get to this tiny little outskirt of the GW retail universe and they can't get the guys in Britain copies?

:pissed: :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: :pissed:
at Fanatic (though to be fair to them its probably GW´s fault rather than Fanatics: "We're not letting you have any more time on the print presses. We have to get the new revamped probably no different to the old one Chaos Codex out, for all the little ten year old whose parents are our biggest shoppers. Profit Margins! Screw the Blood Bowlers!" Not that I'm cynical or anything when it comes to GW...)

And you forgot to mention that "We have to change the fluff of WH40K world again to make sure it doesn't offend anyone and so that's more appropriate for kids and so that it's more grim in a 'pop' kind of way"

I would laugh if it wasnt the truth :pissed:

Thats the reason i stopped playing WFB and 40K. I simply got tired of having to buy new rules and army books for my minis and then occasionally find out that some part of my army now wasnt allowed anymore SIGH.

Bring back the good oldschool Spacehulk.

I went to the GW store last week and they told me they would have five copies the next day. So I go to them the next day and they tell me it's sold out.
ME: ''All five of them in three hours?''
Employee: Well, all employees bought one, and there is five off us''
ME: How about customers and promises?
Employee: Well, we allways buy these things immediately, incase they're sold out, You may order one?''

And they were surprised I didn't involve them in the Tulip Tourney...
Stupid #*^$#&*

Ebay in a couple of months then

We went to GW Amsterdam on our way to our hotel on the friday before T5...the manager was 1) think as two extremely short planks and 2) clearly not used to anyone old enough to drink being in his shop.

Yaeh, but I believed that it is common practise for shops to rely on clients instead of their staff to keep business alive...
Well, we learn an astonishing fact everyday....

Good point though, the average age of the customer in A'dam is 12-14. They must buy their own stuff to keep the shop healthy....

I wouldn't trust them to babysit a zombie....

Andu Hall should take note of what you are saying Lucy, as that is terrible to the community at large. staff taking advantage. Sack the lot of them I say.

Well - I know nothing about how GW organises its stock to go to the stores....but it seems to me that prior to a run of anything, they should ask for:-

1 Expected client demand

2 Expected staff demand

Now, this should all be totted up and a check made to ensure that stores are not over / under ordering. This should occur for every product sold whether WFB, 40k, LOTR etc. GW's release schedule is not so massive that this would be too difficult. A standard electronic form from each store / sales channel can be easily collated.

Then a review should be made of number of sales of similar items from mail order in the past year or so (eg how many Amazon teams were sold to gauge how many Khemri to cast / how many BB Mags 1 and 2 for BB Mag 3 etc).

Each of the GW universes (eg GW US, GW UK) should do this if the stuff is printed / cast centrally.

Once this has been done, they should then get the runs done (depending on cost they should get some extras done too) and sent out to the stores / held for mail order.

Finally, every 6 months (actually monthly is better......) each store should be monitored against orders and sales.

Easy Peasy.

Now, perhaps I've missed something here..... if so, I would be delighted to be shot down by Andy H or someone else in the know. But in this day and age of electronic commumication, it should be very straight forward to set up a standard order / stock control system. I know that GW have just introduced a new system of some sorts - but - it seems to me that it doesn't link orders to sales and run variance analysis. Surely GW are not running a "we'll send 5 copies of everything to each store" policy!

As for the staff - sure its a bit naughty for them to buy up the mags delivered. However, the real problem is Head Office / the sales system which does not function properly (or at the least is not being used properly).

Perhaps GW would like to offer me a job? ;-) [Finance consultancy in the City is a bit slow at the moment so I do have some spare time!]

Lucy: Offer to play them for a right to buy it. If you win you've demonstrated you have more right to the information contained therein than they do.

Can't imagine any of them beating you. Not unless the October review features free touchdowns for whoever can shout like a schoolkid the loudest.

You should really complain to customer service about that, those stores aren't there to fill out the personal collections of the staff. I believe you can find the number on the GW web site.

Wow. That's really sad. The shop didn't have enough sense to ask their 5 employees who play Blood Bowl how many of the 5 books they planned on buying? That's stupid!

Thads, What do you mean by "we're not letting you have more time on the presses"? Are you saying that GW has their own printing dept.? Or are you just talk out yer arse?

If GW has a printing department then I'm in shock. First of all if they have a printing department then there is no reason to have under runs on anything. And if they have their own presses and they are charging $7 bucks for these magazines I'm outraged!
