Wood Elves starting line up?

Post by lyannou »

Hello,

i will play a league with the 3rd edition rules and i would like to play wood elves.

Could you tell me how to start a new WE team?

I think about:

1 WarDancer
10 Linemen
2 RR
8 FF

Thanks for your comment.

That's exactly how I'd start one.

just to know what ppl think starting with an "original" lineup like this one :

9 linelf 630 k
2 WD 240 k

8 FF 80 k
1 RR 50 k

i know it s really risjy to start with only one reroll, but with a 8 FF you can expect winnig some on the kick off table..

So ??

Considering how many people in this forum suggest starting with a minimum of ff 7, i dont know how many ko results your really gonna win. But then thats why im not too sold on the must start with ff of 9 theory.

I think that is the best starting roster you can get for WE, lyannou.

It ain't so much the winning on the KO table..it's the not losing that counts. Also, with the revised winnings table and especially the natural 1 on the FF table, it's even more critical to start with high FF than before. You start too low and roll a coupla 1's early, you could find yourself in a hole you'll never get out of.

so now another lineup i got in mind :

1)

11 line elf
2RR
1 apo
8FF

What do you think of that one, i ll soon start a league with a wood elf team and hesitate between those 3 :

2) "the classic one"

10 line elf
1 WD
2RR
8FF

3) "The risky one"

9 line elf
2 WD
1RR
8FF

the first two seem better in my mind as i feel really dangerous starting with only one reroll, especially with 2 "leapers"...

Forget about your third one, you'd regret it. With the first one, i'd get a 3rd reroll instead of the apoth. Something else i like to do is the following:

2 Catchers
9 Line-elves
2 Rerolls
9 Fan factor

But yeah, your best bet is usually to go with the standard one, i.e.

1 Wardancer
10 Line-elves
2 Rerolls
8 Fan factor

Starting with:

1 Wardancer
10 LineElf
2 Re-Roll
8 Fan Factor

Is prolly best, most starting teams have a hard time stoping a BloDge player.

The only other Starting line I'd consider would be:

1 Wardancer
1 Thrower
7 LineElf
2 Re-Roll
6 Fan Factor

Which has some merits when playing in a shorter league and 6FF is still enough to hit 41,000 Fans with average rolls, which is all 8FF will do with average rolls too.

I'd much rather have a Wardancer than a 3rd Re-Roll.
And, starting with two ST 2 Catchers arent as good Ball Carriers as the one BloDge ST 3 Wardancer IMHO.

There is an other one that i've seen can be pretty good.

1 Wardancer
1 Catcher
1 Thrower
8 Linemen
1 RR
9 FF

When you think of it, you have some free RRs in the positional players, but its a little risky imo. I've tried it out and it works pretty well,

I wouldn't start with ST2 on an 11 man squad. I certainly wouldnt' start with only 1 reroll. You'll spend the first few games buying players before you can afford another one. That will hurt you.
