My first painted orcs

Post by drunkdwarf »

Well heres the first painted figs for my newly converted Toof Boyz team :

http://www.drunkdwarves.com/pages/galar ... fboyz.html

I'm pretty pleased with the way they came out, and think the time it took to sculpt the 3D numbers and icons paid off.

Lemme know whatcha think!

:o That's a remarkable job! It's the subtle things that make it so outstanding: the shading of the solid black (not the easiest thing to do)... the coloration on the horns of the top and bottom helmets... the realistic tones on the leather straps.... It's the little details like that, often overlooked, that can really bring a mini together, and you certainly captured them all. Add it to your 3D work -- yes, I'd say it paid off, too! ;) -- and those are certainly some orcs you can be proud of!

Stunning, extraordinary details. Well done, I really like them.

But why have you chosen to have the same colour for armour, trousers, gloves and shoes, they look all black and the same, sort of unfinished. (??)Sorry for my nitpicking but if if you highlight/use a distinct colour for the trouser stitches or the top seam of the boots they will look much better IMHO. We know you can paint details! (or is it bc of the photos that it looks all black??)

I disagree on that, I like that you have used black for their outfit and you have done it well. I think people might look at a figure in black cloth to be to easy or too close to the coat of black.

I think that its an awesome team that you got there and after this I doubt that I have the guts to post any of my Orc players when they are done.

What I say is: just compare pic 1 and 2, the second has its stitches and upper boots painted white and the first not. I just wanted to say that the second mini looks better because of that.
