I know that the skaven runner is a gamble.
However, the availability of a MA9AG4 player is something that I'd like to have, even though the plan could fail miserably when somebody breaks the neck of that rat.
After all, by winning a game you get 10k more money, have better chances of sustaining or increasing your ff, and in addition you get happy
- and that skaven would give me a totally new option in my gameplan.
My offensive gameplan would revolve around protecting the ball AND the runner, and using the skaven to score when it seems I fail to advance otherwise.
On defense I'd probably keep him out of reach but available for an assist in suitable positions.
I don't have any purchase plans yet, but apothecary will probably be a priority.
What's your opinion: which of the orc position players would you take? The thrower? The blitzer? Or the BOB?
If I take the thrower, that'll probably be the first player investment (unless somebody gets killed) - just to get the dark elves to develop to their future roles.
Otherwise the first player investment will be a Chaos Blocker (warrior if you insist...), then more beastmen. Norse blitzer at some point...

In reply to Voyager's earlier post.
This is in response to Voyager's earlier question.
Hey, sure I played 11 games with them and once I had Guldak Swiftpaw (the GR) up to 11 mv, I won every game. Of course that took me 8 games to do as he was out of action for most of the season. He ended up with 2 nigs and was killed twice (thank you Apoth)
It was slightly different of a set up, as I was playing a Chaos team with our leagues variant ally rules, but the principle was similar.
3 CWs
5 Beastmen
1 Gut Runner
1 DE Blitzer
1 Hobgob
4 Fan Factor
2 Rerolls
First game out (against Wood Elves BTW) I lost a Chaos Warrior and the Gutrunner gained a nig. Only won 40k. Second game was against undead. Lost another CW and earned enough to finally get the apoth.
Granted that was my first ever Bloodbowl team and I made some serious tactical errors. The only other Chaos team in our league copied my team almost exactly and ended up winning the Blood Bowl in Season One.
Team ended up
4 CW
5 Beastman
1 Minotaur
1 Black Orc
1 DE blitzer
1 (Very injured) GR with 11 mv
2 Rerolls
9 Fan Factor
7th in the league.
But it was a learning process.
I shelved this team for the first two tournaments in our current season and my Orc team is currently 12-0, and having much fun. I do plan to go back to the Crushers for the next tournament, hopefully the cloud of bad luck has passed.
