Kickers and Kicking - like or hate?
I'm about to start up the Kripple Peak 2003 league and I was wondering if any of you cats had played with the kicking rules, if you like them, hate them or are having trouble finding the second edition kicker miniatures. I haven't played a game since about January so I'm a bit out of the loop with the new rules. Thanks, lm

littlemute,
The rules got changed for kicking since the Annual. Chet rewrote them and improved them a TON.
The revised rules are here:

Personally, I like them. I wouldn't mind them being official as I think they have as much use in the game as Throw Teammate does ... ie a fun seldom used tactic that has scoring potential.

Overcomplication
Hmm, maybe it's just something that would over complicate the game. If you can't make a team strat with the humans around the tactic, it's probably useless to have in the game. Not saying that because I play the humans all the time, but basically everything possible in BB should be represented on the human team to some degree, and all other teams just be a mutation of those basic aspecs. So if you start out a season saying, well, I'd like to make a team based on kicking feild goals constantly rather than running it in, would it be a viable tactic or just an addon? I've got a league of around 10 guys some of which have played oodles of games without ever reading a sentence in a rule book and others who I'd like to shoe up the ass for their incessant lawyerism, hence a set of new rules like this might be too much hassle, explaining or defending against the 'power lawyer'.

Im glad it was changed to 1D6 plus St not AG!! I got my ass kicked by a lizardmen team that had skinks running around like blown leaves scoring field goals!!! It was bloody sickening. I can see it better with the ST plus a die, the stonger you are the farther you can kick. (Oh my god!! Those Saurus will be my bane next!!!!!!!!!

Superfluous
Manusate got the word for it, "superfluous". Even if were brilliant - I haven't tried them out so I don't know - I wouldn't want this as more than a variant. Like playing with a snotling instead of a ball.
There was a discussion in another tread about getting the One set of rules, and I would really like if we could get there. That's one of the reasons I like LRB so much - it's a big step forward. But from there I'd enjoy playing a lot of variants!
(Come to think of it: Are there any rules out there for playing with a snotling?)

I was standing in the shower thinking about stupid crap and i thought up a BB mod called...
Get the Git!
It's sort of a version of Smear the Queer. (Anybody else play this as a youth?)
Basically it's Blood Bowl but for a TD you need to injure the snotling and then put both the snot and the ball in the endzone. If the the snotling gets hurt on his own (failed dodge or GFI etc) and one team moves the ball into the endzone the team with the ball in the endzone must move the snotling body back to their own endzone, receive a new snotling and injure him. If the snotling is pushed out of bounds he is thrown back in just like the ball but at a distance of 1D6.
The moving player moves the snotling immediately after his turn unless the snot is hurt or dead in which case the snot must be carried around like the ball. The snotling treats all KO results as stunned.
To begin the game the snotling starts in the receiving team's endzone center square.
I think it would work better with the second edition boards because the 2 square deep endzone will help protect the ball carrier who is waiting for the snotling.
Anyway, that's all the further I got in the shower. Any ideas?

I've played some games with the kicking rules already, and have yet to see a single field goal. Or a field goal attempt.
Only thing that bugs me with the rules is the change in scoring. Field goals don't seem like that likely an option anyhow, so why not let both FG's and TD's be worth 1 point?
I've asked this before and the opinion seemed to be that even though that would increase the amount of field goal attempts and field goals, they still wouldn't be dominating the scoring.
Naturally this would have to be tested.

Not really played them so couldn't comment.
However, having seen the opposition to the kicking rules, if they become official I'd like to see them presented as advanced, optional rules, which each league can decide to implement or not.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
