New lightning bolt template

Post by nouge »

Text in the LRB 1.3 regarding the new lightning bolt spell:
The Lightning Bolt has a range two
squares wide and five squares in length that shoots
out from the side of board where the Wizard is placed.
Can this template be placed on an angle, or can it only shoot 'straight' out (ie. horizontally)? The illustration (and lack of a proper template to use) seem to imply that it shoots horizontally, but nowhere in the text is this made explicit...

I think you can place it "horizontally" placing the wizard on one side of the field or "vertically" placing the wiz behind the td zone.

The "corner option" seems to me not realistic because the template will cover some 2 squares in some point and 3 in some others.

I've gor a ruling on this from Andy Hall himself:
There's now NO template.
A lightning bolt must be cast perpendicular to the side/end line and will cover an area of 2 squares wide and 5 squares long into the pitch!

Thanks for clearing that up, guys. I guess wizards really are a fairly lame use of 50k gold now...
