something tells me this will be a very bashy tournament..

either bring a bashy team and try to toe the line

or bring an AG team and try to win games in the knowledge that you will be outnumbered from turn 1 of the first half onwards....

@lowsman2: it was my intension to misuse the word Boner, strictly for humor cause

At as I hear it I'm really doubting my team choice should be humans after all. I all other teams are going to be Orcs or Dwarves, it seems more tempting to try out dark elves, with some luck they can score quick, but as pointed out, there will easily be outnumbered. I do fear the same problem with humans....

@ Gorbad: I would like to know how you stop the dwarve cage from progressing and how you break the cage without an oggre on the team? Humans simply lack the agility to dodge away 1 square like elves can do.

Maybe you are able to get some players between the cage and ball carrier before he reaches the cage. But then your team would been spilt up and the ones behind the enemy lines, most likely catchers and blitzers (as they are the fastest) will get maimed or at least caged...

@ Da_Great_MC: where did you find the last years participating teams?

No agility teams?

I wil be playing there with high elves. And El Hombre plays dark elves, I suppose. So no need to worry :)
I you really want to hurt dwarves just pick the kick-skill. With a little luck it takes two turns for them only to reach the ball, stand aside picking it up

All dwarfs are by nature dutiful, serious, literate, obedient and thoughtful people whose only minor failing is a tendency, after one drink, to rush at enemies screaming "Arrrrrrgh!" and axing their legs off at the knee. (TP)

Bah, they have 8 turns to get to the other side of the pitch. I wonder if there will be any elves left when the do cross!

Kick really can hurt dwarves if you can stop them caging up

Just remember it takes half a team to form a cage. And a few more to pace the way. Hunt the others down as the cage rolls down the pitch.

Guard replaces the need for a huge cage with the dwarves.

Ok, nice, there will certainly be two non-bashy teams :D

Which makes me think again of playing the Dark Elves, I like the 4AG too much, but than I would only have 11 players...and because someone said humans tend to do better in tournies, I'll give them a go.

I guess I'm going to use the Ogre too, it might not be the best way to play, but he's fun and gives the opposition a chance to win because he can cause turn-overs
The only thing that bothers me is the FF 1, it seems too low to me: it will deffinatly hurt on the KO-table, or is FF 1 a common thing in tournies?

My no-Ogre alternative would be:
4 blitzers
2 throwers
3 catchers
3 linemen
3 Re-rolls
1 apoth
4 FF

This maxes out on Positionals and gives a higher FF (or is this too much money into the FF?)

Pretty common yes, mostly people buy 'stuff' and the leftovers go to FF, so you will see a lot of FF1 through 3.

Some people will take a gamble for a Get the Ref, but as that's on 2d6, it's usually not done much.

Ofcourse all the halfling coaches will be sporting their 9 FF and 6 Assistant Coaches, but, if you worry about halflings, you've lost anyway, so who cares about FF? :D

As Toby said, there will be at least 2 elf teams present: His and mine.

Dark Elves just because I'm tired of playing Orcs right now, and my Pro Elves aren't painted yet. Otherwise you'd be showed how to play BloodBowl by my pro's

Hey all,

sorry about missing this thread, been absent for a little while.

Since there were some questions about assigning post-game skills, let me summarize it below:

After game 1, roll 2 random players, assign each of them a skill
After game 2, roll 2 random players, assign each of them a skill
After game 3, roll 2 random players, assign one of them a skill, another a skill OR Trait (your choice who gets what).
After game 4, roll 2 random players, assign each of them a skill
After game 5, well who cares? ;)

Hope this clears things up.

While I have your attention, let me ask you tournament-people an open question on this:

Would you consider it unbalanced if the post-game Trait could also be a skill from the Physical category (only for those who can normally do so, ie Skaven and Chaos (and nurgle??)?

It might encourage people a little to play a neglected team like Chaos. My only concern is that it might give too big a boost to Skaven teams who are already good.

Opinions please.

cheers

Sam
