Dauntles and Piling On
Hi there !
What happens if one has Dauntless and let's say he's brought to ST5 and then Piles On, does he get +5 or the regular ST ???

IMO Dauntless makes the player 'better' at blocking, it doesnt make him into an ultra strong...thing...I mean can you really see a player with this combo adding 6 to the av roll just because he's blocking a tree man?Valen wrote:I think I would disagree here I am afraid. I think it should be the ST5, he is blocking with more aggression, therefore he will pile on to you with more aggression
.
But I can see why you think the other way, it has never came up in any of our games.

I dont think he's really 'summoned' the strength...more along the lines of he knows where to kick stronger playersValen wrote:I see the skill Pile On as the attacker jumping onto the prone player to give him a few more digs, so therefore if he has summoned the ST to hit a treeman with ST6 then thats what he is using to carry on digging him.

You sure your not just using this to your advantage because high elves are a weaker team and don't really have access to higher strength teams. Dauntless is already an equaliser to take on stronger players, to penalise them even more by having a higher armour modifier just be cause they are stronger seems very unfair. They have a higher armour for a reason, piliong on is designed to give you a better chance to beat their armour not make their armour the same to beat as a weaker player.

"Pilling on" means that the player jumps on top of the player, to hurt him a little bit more than just by blocking him.
Now this means that when a gutter runner, for example, is pilling on and uses dauntless to ST5, he will only get +2 on armour because he isn't that big. I mean would it that much if a gut runner jumped on top of a treeman???? No, so I would say that you don't get the bonus when pilling on with dauntless.
In LRB p. 34 dauntless says:
This is my arguments against this, and I beleive I'm right. Otherwise I would love to hear something else.

This means he just psychs himself up for the block, and not for the pilling on. I mean, how can you psych yourself up to land harder if you are a gutter runner!A player with this trait is capable of psyching themselves up so that they can take on even the very strongest opponent
