Personally, I have no problem with a player who sat on the bench all game being named as "Most Valuable Player". After all, he didn't drop any important passes, he didn't trip over and knock himself out while Going For It to make a touchdown, he didn't attempt to block a weaker player with three assists and roll triple skulls. The way I coach, I'd probably win more games if the entire team sat out the game

Like Tamper Magnitude, our league tried out the rule of letting the opposing coach select the MVP.
At first there was some descrepencies when a certain coach decided to give it someone who never played, every game. This was soon stamped out by a little threat of violence.
We have now played this house rule for over two seasons, and it is working very well. It is not always the player who gets the most SPP's who is selested, for instance if a thrower throws 6 TD passes split between 3 receivers evenly, I would give it to the thrower, as he did the most damage to me in the game.
I also remeber recently my opponent gave my Young Dragon the MVP even though he did not actually get any points, but he was behind every play, by opening up the line, protecting the passer, and generally p**sing my opponent off
.
So as you can see, if you have a group of sensible coaches (as sensible as you can get with a BB coach), this rule can work.

Ditto, I had the same thing last week. My blitzer who didn't get any spp got mvp because he was always in the opponent's backfield messing up plays. If you do let the other player(or better yet, an observer) choose it like an actual MVP award, it's great.Valen wrote:So as you can see, if you have a group of sensible coaches (as sensible as you can get with a BB coach), this rule can work.

From watching the games of our local football team I am used to that the audience votes for the most valuable player. And their decisions are sometimes "interesting".. So no problem with the random MVP from this side

I also would suggest to use those tiles. What else could they be good for.Call us crazy but we just use the numbered, yellow tiles. We put the corresponding numbers in a dice bag and draw them.

Back to the original post ...
What happens in your oppinion, if none of your players get to score a single SPP? No MVP should be given, according to some of the oppinions ...
Any thoughts?
(btw - not that any of my teams have not got SPP in a match!)(not me)

I think MVP should be chosen, even when no player of the team scored a SPP in that game.
The MVP shows which player in the team was the most important for that team during the match. IMHO this could even be a player who has not scored a TD, caused as cas or whatever....
Just think about a strong defense player....
Just my 2 cents....

Most valuable player award. To me it seems instantly like something to compete about: mr X's star player has 13 MVP's and mr Y's star player only 8 etc.
However, due to the fact that the MVP gives so many SP points makes it not too sensible to choose the MVP as the MVP - after all, they're likely to be pretty developed and good already.
My vote:
-Rename current MVP to Inspiration or something like that
-An MVP award then becomes available to be used as a measure of in how many games has the particular player been a decisive member of his team.

Put it this way... Would YOU trust Jim and Bob to give the MVP award to the blitzer that scored three touchdowns, crippled a dark elf and ran 300 paces... Or would the Troll that farted and sat on a Snotling probably impress the pair?

We just gave it to anyone on the team that Died/SI/BH in that order, as that's the way it always randomly came out.

The only problem with this is that your linemen are never advancing. It's always your thrower and the gutter runner. See what I mean?Cephme wrote:For our league we have chose to use the random chits, but only players who have gotten an SPP in that game go in to the hat for that team. If you don't score any spps in the game you don't have an MVP. We think that makes the most sense.
