Fourth skill for Dragon Warrior - Advice

Post by bradw71 »

OK, I have a Dragon Warrior with Block, Dodge and Jump Up. I have a fourth advance for him, and it's a straight skill (i.e. no doubles).

My initial thoughts are:

a) Strip Ball - this guy is a key defensive player, and to give him this makes him that much better on D
b) Side Step - That annoying little skill :) As so many people try to hit him to take him out, or clear a path, this would be handy
c) Leap - Just complements his MV7 and allows him to get to places others can't (and yes, he only has AG4)
d) Sprint/Sure Feet - Make him that much more of a threat for either defense or scoring

Opinions appreciated.

I would personally take Sidestep, and also consider Shadowing. I tend to have both by my 4th skill, but I can see you rolled a double you wanted to take advantage of (which, by the way, I personally wouldn't have taken Jump Up with).

Other players will take Strip Ball, and it's a valid choice, but just not my personal favorite.

Last idea I would suggest is to take Tackle, if you're trying take down other dodgers.

Have you got any other Leapers? Strikes me that it'd be nice with Jump Up, negates a lot of the drawbacks of failure.

If dragon warriors start with block, and he is getting his fourth skill, doesn't that mean he should have another skill in addition to those listed?

I'd go for either strip ball or tackle since you said you wanted a defense.

I'd be tempted to take pass block if alot of your opponents favor the passing touchdown.

Tackle
You need players who can get the ball back.

Sidestep or Tackle.

SS works pretty well with Jump Up since even if you get knocked down you can still choose where to go.

Tackle is important if you want to be able to cope with other agile teams.

Side Step or Leap. It lets you do things not normally possible...

I also would go for Tackle next, though the decision is best made by considering what the rest of the team looks like.

I also wonder what the other result was for the skill that is not listed: Block, Dodge & Jump Up only accounts for two skills since the Dragon Warrior begins with Block anyway.

(I think I also would have taken Mighty Blow instead of Jump Up for the previous doubles roll. My Dragon Warriors on my high elf team are my main hitters so need the most hitty skills they can get.)

Cheers,
Martyn

TACKLE!!!

When you have some "tacklers" already, then shadowing or sidestep would be my prefered alternatives.
