The three new teams - I can't seem to be able to find them

Post by Math Mathonwy »

So, a dumb question: where are the rules for the Slann, Chaos Pact and Underworld teams? I remember the pdf but seem to be unable to find it now for some reason.

Also, what is the situation with these teams? Will they be getting the green light and be included in the next version of LRB? Is making an Underworld at this point team a good idea?

2) Yep

3) Not sure what the question is, can you rephrase it?

Cheers

Thank you, much obliged! :)

Heh, just meant as a further probing on the prospects of the team had the answer to question number two been along the lines of "not sure yet".

A clarification on the answers.

These 3 teams have already been voted on by the BBRC and are in their eyes (which includes JJ's) official BB teams.

In fact all of the BBRC members have agreed to back the NAF that the teams are official if the NAF would allow them into the rankings system. Something I hope happens soon as I'm playing in a NAF tournament allowing the 3 teams to play in September.

However ... JJ's bosses won't allow the team to appear in print in the LRB until they have figures and its an all or nothing thing ... either the 3 get printed or they don't.

Soooooo what you have is official team RIGHT NOW (don't have to wait until LRB 6.0) ... that have a pretty high chance of still not being printed in LRB 6.0.

It sucks ... but that's where we are.

Uh, Galak, what figs would they need? A specific fig for the Marauders? They're just humans painted green with pink polka dots or such.

What would solve the whole deal would be to ressurect the old 2nd edition Chaos players, which were mostly fantastic figures. I use a fair few in my "Chaos" Human team (Wormhowl Greyscar, Galmen Goreblade, Bilerot Vomitflesh, Dieter Hammerslash, Von Hawkfire.)

Also I see no problem whatsoever with the Underworld team...there are Goblins, there are Skaven. Offer a package deal on them and you're laughing.

The Slann are unfortunately a problem. Let's face it, they're not going to happen :( .

I'm going to want to punch myself in the face for saying this (I HATE the idea of being forced to convert warhammer stuff) but are there any GW-fig-conversion teams knocking around that might help?

Or could we swing it as a Tzeench team with lots of bouncy horrors, and then all buy someone elses frog figs and play by proxy

On another point...

Also, if these rosters are balanced enough to be made official, what's the chances of the NAF disregarding the bloody pointless GW stance for a game they couldn't give two wet farts for and making them tourney official anyway?

Probably better discussed on the NAF forum, but I know Tom (and Doubleskulls?) have both argued for their inclusion there.
Personally, I'd be for it as well (3 more teams for me to suck at!  ).

Honestly ... bring it up at the NAF forum.

I've been told its more of a technical issue with the website than a problem with the NAF resisting putting them in place.

Even Jervis himself has emailed and said he would openly support the NAF in allowing the 3 teams into the rankings (that's how official he considers them). Darkson is also correct that both Doubleskulls and I have posted openly on the NAF forums that the teams should be allowed in the NAF rankings. Finally both Paul and Babs have agreed that being the NAF rankings is something they would approve (so that's all 5 BBRC members in agreement including the Big Guy double J himself).

If it really is an issue of web design issues for the NAF to get the teams in ... I'll personally pay the fee to hire a web designer to fix the NAF site to allow these three teams in.

I'm going to an NAF tournament in September that is allowing the 3 teams to play. I'd like to get NAF points for it ... but it won't stop me from going if I don't and it won't stop me from robbing my opponents of NAF points by playing Slann at this event. However ... I really would prefer it to just be points for everyone.

Right now ... I'm a bit depressed because I've had BBFigs.com try 3 different plans with GW to get the newer OOP figures into our store (like Zara, the Chainsaw Dwarf, Hack Enslash, etc.) and all 3 of my proposals were turned down by GW.

1) I was told that the time on the casting machines is fully booked and thus I could not make a special contract order of these figures even I paid full retail for them. (regardless of the size of my order)

2) I've been told that GW at this time is not interested into blister packing them and selling them in sets (like Grim Ironjaw + both weapon Dwarves) which I was willing to place a large order of.

3) Final one came today when I tried to see if GW would allow me to pay a licensing fee to cast figures from their moulds with a different casting company (this is the arrangement I have with Phigs and am trying to finalize with ZN Games). I was told that GW would never allow another company to cast figures from their moulds.

So ... its a bit depressing to be at 3 strikes and out on this. So at a minimum if GW doesn't want my cash ... I'm more than willing to give it as a gift to the NAF so that I can play the 3 new teams and be NAF ranked for doing so.

Beat you to it - poll up on NAF forum.

And same poll added here, to see if there's a difference in opinion.
