Old GW miniatures

Post by NightDragon 2 »

I could not believe my eyes when I was helping to clear out some things in the house where I was brought up in.
I a couple of carrier bags in an old chest were minis that I thought I would never see again. For all you old timers out there you will remember GW's Slann range, both pre slotta base and slotta base. There was also GW's lesser lizardmen (pre slotta base) along with Karnac's lizardmen archers Regiment of Reknown, GW's troglodytes (pre slotta base), GW's Pygmies and Amazons all first range! Awesome find, and there are enough Slann to sink a battleship.
So, I will hopefully have two very original BB teams converted (not by me) and playing sometime during next year and I intend to take one to the next BB tournament.
Just couldn't resist telling everyone! :D

A very nice find ... especially with it looking like the NAF might add the Slann (and Underwold + Chaos Pact) to the ranking system for tournaments by spring of next year.

Over 20 years ago I spent a lot of money getting minis painted by a professional painter and I also have a lot of classic old GW/ Citadel models. My favourite is the limited edition model of the chaos warrior that adorned the first edition boxes of warhammer (Harry the Hammer?), painted according to the colours on the box.
If I knew how to take photos and put them on this site I would do so.
A question for you Galak. Would the Eagle, Jaguar and Alligator Slann fit in to the Slann roster?
:smoking:

In fact going back to the Slann I have also just seen that I have about 8 mounted Slann warriors. I had forgotten that these even existed! I also have the first Slann model that was brought out for a Lustrian adventure pre warhammer.

The Slann roster only has 3 player types. So Jaguar = Blitzer; Eagle = Catcher; Alligator = Lineman ... instant team.

grats on the find :)

My mate hacked up some heads from the slann slaves that carry the mage. Well they are not very 'PC' but look great on a human model.
