One side note here, if there is a final it will be the positions after any SF or finals have taken place. Several of the 8 do have a final and be clear up front that making a final does not make you top 2 for sure.
How exactly is this scored. Sorry if I'm being thick. A coach who comes first gets... how many points?
I am going to defend you here Joe because that was the one paragraph that got changed at the last moment. The answer is you come first, you score 1pt. 2nd 2pts etc. The lowest score possible wins and a tie is a tie (this is lighthearted when all is said and done).
That was the orginal idea around Sept time but at spiky and then Eurobowl and then finally Flamebowl it was agreed to have a score system dependant on how many players were there.....
ok in principle but several of the nine who saw the document said "you know we could keep it simple" and in the end about 5 of the 9 all said either by group email, a text or private email.... keep it simple. So it is switched. I meant to post on New Years Day... that was the plan, but only because of the score system did it get delayed a few days.

I was going to bring up that issue though: someone coming 6th in the GT has probably worked alot harder for that place than someone who (for example) came 5th in the Thrudbowl, I guess that applies to winning it too. This is probably not really be an issue since its all just for fun anyway but if it is percieved to unbalance things too much then perhaps coaches win records for the tournaments could be used instead?

This was probably a joke but I'd suggest that would be a no.
We don't want it to be encouraged for players to purposely lose so they can "win" last place. It's not fair on tournament players, organisers and rankings.
We all know players who do it, and we all know how we feel about those players.

I agree. I remember I was doing very badly at the Monkeybowl, and I joked to the guy on the bottom table that I'd be taking his spoon off him if I carried on in this way, and I remember he got quite defensive about the prize (even more so when the organisers told me that I was on less points than him in the last game).
Though then again I kind of WOULD like the prize there, just so I have a chance of a prize

Everything in moderation (except possibly moderation)
Taking part in things like Dockbowl, Dungeonbowl for the last 4 players do encourage this a little bit, as do actual monetary prizes for the wooden spoon. Not sure I've come across actual competitive chumping though.

@ sann0638: Not being the luckyest player in BB and spending most of my time in the bottom end of the ournies i have come across a number of players who have gone out with the intention of winning the wooden spoon. moves such as a Fling carrying the ball blitzing into an ogre doesnt pose for a fun game. Sad really.
