I like it most when it's random actually.
Far more fun when there's a team selection criterium (like the one grum proposed some time ago) and not this tactical 'he plays him cuz it's got an advantage' thing

It's about fun, not winning!!!

I like the world cup system :

pairing by team and after pairing by coaches ranking inside the team.

But if you want to change it to give another place to the captain, I purpose you to use a draft system.

flip a coin to see who choose first.

Team A win the toss and decide to choose first or not.

example:

Team A captain choose first game and two oppenents

Team B captain choose second and third game

Team A captain choose game four and five

Team B captain choose game six an seven

Team A captain choose last game .

I think this kind of system will give organization more work.
So I can understand they prefer to keep the same system than before.

A system where people choose the match will take more time, for a better organisation i think it is not a good way.

Don't get me wrong Dave - when England win it in Italy this year I'm taking charge again and it wil be back to random teams + random match ups. Just like the FA Cup!!

I was just putting forwards an idea for more involvement from the Team Captains

I don't like this system, because Lupus is not able to do anything of this

I prefer last year option (the same like WC) but if you want to give an extra role to the captain, I prefer the ETC system

Lots of interesting ideas. I like the captaincy picks one (ETC) a lot!

Still say the +1 would be a minor organisational change that just makes sure the best team wins.

we're going to fix a date (maybe on the first days of October) and we'll use the official ruleset at that day.
