Gnoll Team and new Trait idea
I noticed a company is working on Mini's for a Gnoll Football team.
As I play the Gnolls in Chainmail I have been mulling over the idea of a Gnoll Bloodbowl team.
Overall Gnolls are close to Humans in most things except they are a bit stronger, but not as strong as say Black orcs.
So I see a Gnoll team very close to the Human team with less Position Players, say 2 Throwers, 2 Blitzers, and 2 Catchers. And a little more expensive, say +20 with a trait that gives them a str Bonus in certain circumstances.
What do you guys think of this idea:
Trait Aggressive: Players with this trait add one to their strength when they are making a Block. Not when recieving one.
Comments? Suggestions? Ideas?

Rather than creating new traits, (and I think your trait is too powerful anyway) why not give them more players with access to STR skills. Eventually many will have guard and thus increase the Team strength as a whole.
Do you have a link to these Gnoll Football figs? I'd love to see them, and it might help to come up with ideas for what the team should play like.

Ah, Phil's Phigs. You see those Gnolls are gonna be for Elfball. That's a completely separate game, and the minis won't really be applicable to Bloodbowl, ie no helmets, padding, spiky bits etc. I don't know much about it but with a name like elfball its gotta be for wussies!
Oh yeah one more thing, those gnoll minis look lanky, not strong.

All of Phils Phigs are geared towards Elfball. That is the game he is making the minis for. The fact that they just happen to work well in the Blood Bowl universe is a "lucky" bonus
As fo the team construction. If as you say Gnolls are basically the same as Humans but just a little stronger, why not use the exact same stats as Humans, but replace the Catchers with Blockers (strength 4) and give the whole team access to strength skills?
Sounds very similar to an Orc team though.....

Oh, and if it is a good looking
Amazon team you are looking for have a look at the shadowforge range of miniatures.... mmmmmmmmm

I use Phils Valkyrie miniatures as a Norse team.... thats what they are afterall.

That makes it a norse team then.
Why not base it on 'basic' humans as Norse and Amazons do.
0-12 Line: 6338
0-2 Blitz: 6338, block
0-2 Th:6338,pass
0-2 Blocker:6348
No clue on the cost but a funny (orcish) combo of positions. Everyone strenght/general skills and passing for the -duh- Throwers
Expensive (60 / 70 K) rerolls

personally, i like the idea of taking gnolls back to their hyena roots... make them lanky and larcenous... i envision a roster more like skaven, but with "scavenger" skills like strip ball and pass block all over the place.... much more interesting than just another orc team...dakkakhan wrote:Oh yeah one more thing, those gnoll minis look lanky, not strong.

Are you sure that giving the lineman strength access would be balanced? I'd prefer to see them with just general. I'd say that the blocker and the lineman should be the same (80k and 50k). The thrower with movement and strength access would probably have to be 10k extra. The blitzer with one less armor would probably be 70k.

When I first heard of Phil's plans to make a gnoll team last year, I just had to make up some blood bowl rules for them. Guess this is a good spot to post them. I went with how Phil made them in Elfball: A bit faster than humans, but less skilled.
I am a bit afraid that they're too powerful, but I'm not sure.
Any comments?

Well first of all, Gnolls would not fit very well. So no need to bother wether this team would become "official".
For those who don't know, Gnolls are Hyaena-Humanoids ...
There are some good tries on Gnolls so far, but my personal favorite looks like this :
0-4 Gnoll Blitzer 7 3 2 8 Dirty Player, Block, Dauntless 100.000gc
0-2 Gnoll Thrower 7 3 3 8 Dirty Player, Sure Hands 80.000gc
0-2 Gnoll Catcher 8 3 3 7 Dirty Player, Dodge 80.000gc
0-12 Gnoll Lineman 7 3 2 8 Dirty Player 60.000gc
Re-Rolls: 70.000gc
