The first Zombie Dwarf will sit in the forward middle of the trophy vignette (NW corner of the photo) and the second ZD to the right... third, coming, to the left....

The coaching staff/reserves sits in the SW corner... KOs in the SE and Injuries in the NE....

The Zombie Dwarfs are guarding the Trophy Display in the NW corner....

I started on the swamp running between the western half of The Box (WIP on the stream and stumps)....

The ladder league rolls on with an old friend entering Amazons and the Orcs rolling through two more wins to sit only 2pts below the daunting dwarves.... Is a rematch for dominance in the making...?

147 Greyhounds Dwarf
145 TMNO2 Orc
101 Dead Reckoning Undead
85 ? Amazon
83 ? Human
78 Gravely Repulsed Necromantic

If he accepts it, I've challenged the Amazon's with Gravely Repulsed and told the Humans I'll accept with Undead IF they wish to challenge.... We'll see if I can make a little more of this.... :)

I'm really flummoxed.... For a month, I've been in a severe dice draught....

Yesterday's "game" pitted the League last ladder rung, "Gravely Repulsed", against a fresh, Khemri, Desert Kings team.... The DKs were running the usual 4 tomb guardians (oh, so slightly less cheesy (LRB 5+) than Jervis Johnson's fiasco)... and the unusual 8 skeletons (Aahz feels that a skeleton with TS + Sure Hands is better than a throw-ra)....

I'll skip the rant and let the facts speak: I didn't break skeleton armor till turn 7... only stunned... and only twice more in the second half... again, only stuns.... The same ghoul that tried to make a pair of separate gfi blitzes, fell down on the first one and stunned himself... then later MNGed himself on another attempt....

I rolled so many 1's/skulls that the game lasted less than 2 hours....

I even rolled a 1 on a 16 sider, giving the MVP to a zombie with no points.... Considering that 7 of his teammates could've skilled up with the roll.... *sigh*....

Aahz handed me a die from the floor and said, "Maybe this one will roll better." "Nah", I said, tossing it into a Warhammer game pit, "It only rolls ones...." And, sure enough, it sat in the middle of the table with a 1 staring at me....

Maybe I can start renting myself out as a "hex"...?

You should take all your offending dice and put them on a cutting board and then take one and set it aside. This is when you grab a hammer and tell the other ones this could be them and smash the die within view of the other offenders. I swear it works.

Ten years ago I had a buddy who spent $20 on a set of "precision" dice (they retailed for $25, but we worked at a game store). There was this really obnoxious Halfling coach who made it into the postseason tournament (16 coaches, so no mean feat), and took out his Dwarfs in the semifinal, largely on the utter failure of the Dwarfs to break armor or pick up the ball. After the game, he took the $20 precision dice out to the back porch, grabbed a hammer and shattered the dice in full view of his opponent.

Don't worry, Digger. The pendulum will swing your way again!

Nuffle Takes a Holiday!

At least from my side... as today I had a FLAWLESS game.... Originally I had challenged our Amazon coach with my last place Necros (Gravely Repulsed), but he's incommunicado for some reason.... So I challenged up to Aahz's Humans, "The Good Guys"....

FAME, kick and three POWS vs my zombie line is how it started... but I got up and tied up his players, dropping back and making casualties of the first two catchers that sprinted by... recovering the ball and slow marching it to a TD... 1-0 at the half.... By this time he was down to 7 players (skulling out against a ghoul for a third casualty) for the half-time kick....

He kicks to me and I easily score in two turns.... Kick to him and he's in dire straights.... Runs his last two catchers deep and passes right into Deadslime's hands! The zombie turns and hands off to a werewolf and it's a pimp-slap race to a third TD! Reset and try again: this time he inaccurate/reroll/fumbles the long pass and my players scoop and run... just one thrower to beat... and he knocks back my werewolf AND the ball squirts one square too far back even for two gfi's....

A late grudge-block would destroy the intercepting wonder, Deadslime, and (without an on-roster Igor/Apothecary, thanks to the BBRC) another un-dead gets deader with a failed regen....

Aahz's humans died to an insidious Nuffl'ing: early 1's followed, mostly, by successes... but he ran out of 4+1 (coaching each half) rerolls in 5 turns BOTH halves....

A great win was made better in the post-game: Thundercharge (ghoul) made two completions and a casualty, getting a regular upgrade (probably sure-hands... maybe block); Hauntflare (wight) scored a TD and got a regular upgrade (probably Guard... never have enough); and Hunterspawn (wight) scored a TD and MVP... getting the GOLDEN ANTI-NUFFLING: 6+6!!!!

I even rolled a 6 for winnings! :o Fan factor could only increase to 3....

For once I never skulled out... never had to throw more than a few 1d blocks... and only doubled down a time or two (note that once was against a Golem and he DID miss his opponent while getting STUNNED!)

Great luck! Congrats. Now make sure to block with your Golems any chance you get and score with both weres: I can smell greatness on this team.

I hope that's the smell of success and not Deadslime's remains... ....

I had to rush a little for a possible turn 8 td... and Terrorblow had the ball... but he's the one without Block and was taken down with Skull/block... else he'd have gone up too....

The spread of the SPPs really is great... if irritating when starting.... Flamemaw actually got to 5spp with a TD! Took two handoffs and a lucky bounce-back to get it though....

So, I went with block on the ghoul and guard on the wight.... Took the +ST on the other wight, of course... noting that that's only the 4th ST roll in 10+ years of BB.... Really wanted Sure Hands but ghouls don't last long on my team w/o blodge....

So, the next question is: being within 20k of the ladder league leader (Orcs), should I make a bold move up and challenge him?
