does the "piling on" attack count as a CAS for SPP points purposes? Last night my ST 6 ogre piled on and killed the gutter runner (arf arf) but didn't get SPPs for it ... GW staffer said no
also, said Ogre also scored twice, and would have scored a third in the last turn if he'd not failed his frickin' bonehead roll!!
argh!

Im sure it should count towards your SPP's.
Ive never really come across this combo before, but i can imagine its a real pain it the arse. Saying that, given the chance i bet every1 would do it. People are just pissed that they didnt think of it 1st and now their star lineman is dead!

It seems that a lot of coaches on this thread find the current PiOn overpowered.
IMO, it should either be returned to the old version, or toned down slightly.
Personally, I don't buy the line of thinking that dirty player somehow un-breaks piling on. IMO, both skills are overpowered, and they do not magically repair each other.
Why do I think that DP is too good?
Rival has piling on = luckily DP skill can help.
Rival has freebooted a star = DP can help.
Rival has trained/created a really good player = DP can help.
Rival still has players on the pitch = DP can help.
Rival has a DP = DP can help.
Rival has 2 DP's = better get 3 yourself.......
As "the big old equalizer" it's just too plain good.
1 single skill is all it takes?
I regularly play gainst an orc team.
All his BOBs and blitzers (and the troll) are hard hitters.
His linemen? 4 dirty players.

The question was purposely asked about big guys for a reason. If you are using a 7 armor team, a big guy with MB can break your armor on everything but snake eyes. He's got more than a 50% chance of then taking you off the pitch. Your chances with Dirty Player are not nearly as good as his chances with these two skills on a strength 5 player.

Anyone who says DP is a "fix" is not really paying attention to the odds. DP with 2 assists vs Av8 has 1/3 chance of getting a casualty, but 1/2 chance of getting sent off if its your 2nd foul of the half.plasmoid wrote:I don't buy the line of thinking that dirty player somehow un-breaks piling on. Also with PO you get to choose where you go down, so can ensure that you are reasonably protected against large numbers of assists.

OK, so then theres no reason to give it to Big Guys. I like piling on BGs
if only because you can then foul them. If PO is capped at +3 then the most expensive guy to get it is 50K. I'd much prefer a 120K guy to get fouled for PO than a stupid 50K lineman. Dirty players can keep that BG from piling on, but its not worth it for a stupid lineman.

Big guys still take the skill, as it is the only skill/trait that gives +3 to break armour.
What it does, is make pilling on, not the aoutomatic first skill anyone with high streangth takes.
Fouling is not a popular option, as it can fail to work, and you can get players kicked out of the game.

I'm sue this will be a popular solution, why not only roll to see if the Ref spots the foul when the the armor is broken?
Example 1: you gang up on the ogre that just flattened your mate. Everyone puts the boot it, but you fail to break armor...no foul has occurred.
Example 2: You bring over some more mates next turn because the big guy is down again, this time you bust his armor good and proper, but your opponent gets to see if the ref spotted it at 6+. (next time it's at 4+)
I don't like the idea of toning any skills down. I like the game the way it is, if anything I want more blood. To lose superstars is actually refreshing as dealing with adversity builds character...even in BB.
