Helmlock doesn't bring anything really new to the team, as the stunty break pretty much does the same as a leap break... Sibili does gives something you miss on the team strenght guard and av, does it beat a wizard and a apo, I don't know...!

I'd suggest downloading the latest episode of Three Die Block, which is about Slann, and they have two guys who have a fair bit of experience playing Frogs talking about the team

Already done that Thadrin, in fact I was on it! Well... mentioned in the cheering fans section anyway!
Was just trying to canvass as much opinion as possible really. I also think alot of what Pauly and Jason were discussing was more relevant to existing teams rather than rookie teams.
Fantastic episode though... loving all the version 2.0 casts but this one was really good.

I think Hemlock is a great inducement.
Hemlock brings:
- additional team speed, and a player that's as fast as anyone by a gutter runner
- a blodging sidestep player that's fantastic on the sidelines
- A player that, against lower armored teams, your opponent will be hesitant to mark with anyone but a scrub lineman and that marking doesn't help much with
- Stab, stab, stab
- an additional jump-up player to even the knockdown score.
Hemlock is very good against AG teams. Maybe not against Dwarves or Chaos Dwarves, etc., but against Elves, Amazons, other Slann teams, even Norse and Lizardmen he's effective.
Is he better than a wizard? I think it depends on your game.

Slibli and Hemlock are two of the best, pound-for-pound Star Players in the game! Which is good as the Slann Stars are easily the worst!betterZthenDeaD wrote:... Yeah, I think I'm in agreement TalonBay. Even to a complete newbie like me those stats seem a little 'low' for star players. Not sure but I think I might stick to rounding out my sixteen frog squad and then investing in a mini to represent Hemlock (thinking one of the Sarcos baby crocs as I have a Sarco leviathan for a Krox and a Sarcos croc I can use for Slibli!).

I'd stick with the 2 blitzer, 2 catcher, 4 rerolls build for a long-run team. Rookie blitzers suck big time and there's (modest) synergy to the blitzers only when you get skills on them. Well with AG 3 and MA 7 it's not hard to get some TDs on the Blitzers without having to wait for MVPs. In fact it makes an argument to start with more Linefrogs as the MVP is more valuable landing on them.

had a game recently (expecting a short league) 3 catchers, 1 krox and linemen and 4 rerolls. Nuffle hatres me but I learned a few things. A lineman supported by one catcher (because they are fast and can get to the assist) can handle mosty threats. for not much more than a single blitzer. A krox was brilliant for giving me a strong defence to hide catchers behind. I didn't even need to move him (impt with bonehead). I would have had more rerolls if I could. My Krox was the only one to get a cas. I think perhaps for a long league you might need blitzers but for a short one Krox are great and the linemen can get TD's as well.
I mighht go crazy next game and experiment with leaving the Krox off the line of scrimmage as he got tied up quite well with players in front of him. A strength 5 move 6 player has got to have a few more uses than just speedbump.

I realise this isn't the same, but with Lizzies, I only put the Krox on the LOS at high TV (1600+). I quite like placing the Krox right behind the three linefrogs. It's like giving them mini-Fend as people can be reluctant to follow up. Either your Krox has someone to hit without wasting your blitz or him and up to three LOS linefrogs are free to move come your turn.

Slibli rocks on a Lizardman team. He's perhaps the best star offensive lineman in all of BB, except maybe Ripper. He generates 1TTDs and 3d blocks and wicked downfield cages to deliver the ball into, especially with all that MA8 and easy access to ST4/Frenzy. He's best when you receive first, because then when it's your turn to kick you can put him on the nose where he can stay in the action with his Block and Guard, and you don't care if he dies.
On Slann, I'm not sure, because they do that stuff anyway. Generally, ST4 stars on ST3 teams tend to be useful, so hey.
