Intercepting Crowd Tosses

Post by Amon242 »

Our house leauge used to have a house rule that you could intercept crowd throw-ins if it went over your players head. Once the LBR came out we stopped using this rule. I just browsed through the LBR and I could not find this rule. Could someone please help me out?

The arguement against it is that the interception rules say the player intercepting must be between the player throwing the ball and the player catching the ball, so no, you can't intercept a throw-in.

But I don't see any problems if your league wants to house-rule different.

The Updated "LRB" Oberwald...

... still has it as "no".... (2.16)

The "removal" of it, from the LRB, is mystifying....

Used to see players handoff the ball to the crowd then attempt the interception for quick SPPs in the OLBBL.

Mind, I don't think you can handoff to the crowd either.

Gah... they try everything, don't they?

But generally speaking, I wouldn't mind that if you had a player under the path of the ball you could try to intercept. That could slightly increase the amount of interceptions too, which seems to be something that people wouldn't mind seeing.

Unless im mistaken, the LBR states that you may attempt an interception only if the passing ruler falls over your player. So, only regular passes may be intercepted. Hail Mary passes and crowd tosses do not use the range ruler so no interception attempt allowed.

Your thoughts may vary.

Hang on, can you catch it at all as it goes over? we always played it as just a -1(house rule) and no SPPs for the catch if you get it.

Nope, you can only catch a crowd toss either in the square it lands or n the square it bounces to.
