Lots of inducements to take for an elf game
I'm playing in an elf cup (only elf teams and elf star players authorized) and I should have about 600,000 to spend in inducements against one team - I've got pro elves at TV 1,680 and there's a high elf team at TV 2,300, we'll play a game in-between so both teams' TV may change a bit. What would you recommend?
Was thinking about a wizard, maybe a babe and then a "Desperate Measures" card or Eldril Sidewinder and cards from cheaper decks? He's got 15 players including a +2MA catcher, two +AG players and four guard players; I've got 13 players and just one guard player.
By the way my elf team is getting one player killed every two games on average, is that supposed to be normal or am I really unlucky?

Moranion, Wizard, either Jordell or Eldril or 2x Wandering Apo. Use WApos at first opportunity.
Moranion is great against elves. Yes, Dauntless is a waste, so what? He's ST4/Wrockle, which can save your butt.

2 Apoths
1 babe
Edril
Some cards for amusement
If you opponent has a lot of MB then go with the apoths

In this case, his bench sounds deep enough and skilled enough to be able to reliably score with little regards for what you do. Given that, you're going to want to take inducements that ensure you'll be able to score reliably against that team as well. Moranion and another star will help you accomplish that better than most of the other inducement options probably would.

Re: Lots of inducements to take for an elf game
Edril does have hypnotic gaze, which may frustrate some of the High Elf plays.
Hence depending on the difference go for some of the meatier cards, the decks that screw with his team.
I know Edril is circa 200k
Wizard (just to fireball or zap those catchers) 150k
Or look at the 200K deck and get 2 cards or 4 100K cards or a mix...
Just mess with his team, get him thinking that something is not right and put him on the back foot.
BTW I don't have the rules in front of me but can the Elves get Zara (stabby stuff) and or Helmet (chainsaw)... I know that the latter is more fickle.

Re: Lots of inducements to take for an elf game
If you add retirements through injury, I would guess that your death/retirement rate is within the normal pattern. When I play AV7 teams, I expect to suffer one death or permanent injury every 2 games. You can test whether you are "unlucky", by performing the following (simplified) calculation:narg wrote:By the way my elf team is getting one player killed every two games on average, is that supposed to be normal or am I really unlucky?
Total CAS suffered for the season
Divide this number by the number of games played
Divide the result by 3 to represent the average number of deaths/retirements you should be suffering per game
Deduct 2/3 (to notionally represent using the Apothecary)
The final number is the average number of deaths/permanent injuries you should be suffering per game
If the final number is around 1/2, then you are not "unlucky", your woes are because you are taking a lot of CAS. If it is well below 1/2, then you may claim to be "unlucky".
Using the above calculation (assuming I have got it right), if you are taking on average 3.5 CAS per game, then you can expect to suffer 1 death or permanent injury every 2 games. If you have many games in which you suffer lots of CAS (say 5 or more) then the average will be pushed up somewhat (because you have only 1 Apoth).
Hope that helps.

For 600k
I think I would take Edril because of the hynotic gaze, ie use every turn.
200k
Halfling hot pot, rob his rerolls and you get them.
300K
And a real toss up between an extra apoth or a card from the Good Karma deck
100k

Re: Lots of inducements to take for an elf game
Played 15 games, suffered 24 injuries, including 7 permanent injuries and 6 killed. Using your method I should have suffered 0.36 permanent injuries or killed per game while the actual number was 0.87, so I guess I really was unlucky.Smeborg wrote: Total CAS suffered for the season

I got two permanent injuries through fouls and a player killed by being thrown in the public and these aren't counted in the amount of casualties suffered but still...
@Smurf
Stealing rerolls sounds good as well, especially against elves, I'll have to consider that...

Re: Lots of inducements to take for an elf game
narg - my method is probably flawed at such low CAS rates, but I can confirm from the figures you give that you are just suffering from "bad luck". Just remember that normal probabilities do not apply in BB (chance of GFI to the end zone = 50% etc.).
All the best.
