Orc team blitzers
So my team has been slow to develope, losing mostly and spending cash on replacement players. This sparked a vindictive mood so the first two skills were sneaky git on goblin and mighty blow on black orc. Now the troll has picked up guard and a blitzer tackle.
Another blitzer has got its first skill - my question is should I take the +1 move or something else? mighty blow to help hurt the other side, guard to help against strength teams, strip ball or something else to help against elves (both types have been creaming me). Move would speed me up a bit - its it that big a difference though?

Re: Orc team blitzers
I would consider the +1 movement. Generally speaking though, guard is the first normal choice on blitzers.
And as a side note I prefer block and guard on my BOBs before MB and I don't like to take sneaky git on a goblin unless I've rolled a double and took dirty player first.

Re: Orc team blitzers
I would normally take the +1MA on a 6,4.
The difference between MA6 and MA7 is quite big. Bear in mind that you may get +1MA on other Blitzers, which will improve the reach of the team further. I once saw a well-coached Orc team with 4 x MA7 Blitzers after just 5 games - very scary.

+MA for the long term and Guard or MB for the short term. Having a blitzer with +MA on a near rookie team probably won't do you too much good yet.

Re: Orc team blitzers
+1 Movement allows for possible 2 turn TD's (without having to use GFI's), so i would be inclined to take it.
However if you want to become a bash team take MB

Move. The ability to blitz the sidelines from centerfield is nice.

Re: Orc team blitzers
I had 3 MA7 blitzers on my OCC orc team, and it's too many! MB, tackle and PO or guard are the staples, and MA can slow down the development. In all honesty I wish I had only taken 2 of them and used them as scorers and safeties.

Re: Orc team blitzers
Glad I found this thread
saves me from starting a new one!
I have a 7MV Blodging blitzer and am at a crossroads for development. Not sure if I should make it a scoring piece or a safety.
Ideas for each?
I was thinking for a safety I could either go
- Dauntless, strip ball or tackle
- Standfirm and make him a marker (DT on double)
Not sure about a runner though. Fend on regular and catch(Diving catch?) on doubles? Or go for Sprint/Surefeet on doubles?
My other blitzers are MB // Tackle // Guard, all within 5spps or less of their next skill.
Thoughts? I guess the X factor is the league makeup. I have 2 games left with the playoffs around the corner (my spot is secure, might have a bye into the semis). I expect to get enough SPPs to get this blitzer a skill before the playoffs and my expected playoff matchup is against either Pro Elves (highly developed blitzers and a 5AG catcher), Norse (lots of MB/PO) or Necro (4st WW, side stepping zombies and blodging FG).
Due to that, I'm kind of leaning to a safety type, but not sure which way to go. I like the idea of strip ball, and there's not much for surehands in the league yet.

Re: Orc team blitzers
dsavillian - how are you Throwers developed? I would be tempted to develop this Blitzer into a Runner (S-Hands, K-Ret) if he is much better than your Throwers. Another possibility is as a dedicated Receiver (Pro, Fend). Another is ball-hunting Blitzer (Tackle, Wrestle, Pro).

one thrower that is already my runner (Block, Kick return and Fend).Smeborg wrote:dsavillian - how are you Throwers developed? Debating on if I want to buy a second thrower before the playoffs. But that should be another thread

I hadn't considered Pro on a receiver, I'll have to toy with that idea a bit.

Re: Orc team blitzers
When in doubt build for defense. I would take the move boost and go tackle next unless I found myself in desperate need for more guard in which case I'd push tackle back one step.

I'm down on Pro, except after Dauntless or following +AG.
