Next playoff match

Post by swilhelm73 »

So I ended up winning 2-1. I BH'd the star skink after he scored one TD, but the game was won in the first half after forcing them to score in 2 turns with my WWs snacking on his sauruses.

Anyway, the next match looks like a real tough matchup.

My necros:
FG: Skill Up (finally!)
FG: Block, Guard
Wight: +AG, +AG, Guard, Dodge
Wight: +AG, MB, Guard, Tackle, SF
WW: Block, Dodge, MB, PO, SS
WW: block, Dodge, MB, Dauntless
GH: Block, Dodge, SH
GH:, Block, Dodge, Guard (MNG, -MA)
Zx2: Wrestle
Zx3: Rookie
4 RR

My norse opponent;

WW: Rookie
WW: +ST, Block, Guard
Bz: PO, MB, Dodge, Guard, Tackle
Bz: +ST, PO, MB, Guard, +AV, Niggle
Yh: Block, MB, +AV
Th: Guard, SH, Accurate
Ru: Guard, +ST, SS, Dodge
Ru: +MV, Dodge, SS
Ln: +ST, Tackle, Guard
Ln: Tackle, Guard, +AV, -MA
Ln: Tackle
Ln: Tackle, Guard, Niggle
4 RR

If I don't replace the MNG Ghoul, I'll have about 300 in inducements. I could supplement that with pretty much as much cash as I want (got about 600k in the bank) to get Count Luthor or Ramtut (cyanide's client only has those two plus Nekbrekereth) - or I could get a wizard and some babes.

It looks to me like the game will come down to injury rolls and with all that tackle, I don't like my odds since I have so much dodge. Also, this makes me lean towards not replacing the missing Ghoul...but that leaves only 5 players who can handle the ball.

Thoughts?

The Wizard is always good against Norse. It has a strong indirect influence on play, and can be devastating when used.

Your opponent has only 12 players, only one of which is a rookie (a WW). In particular he has no unskilled Linemen and 2 of the best players have niggling injuries. A fouling strategy suggests itself rather strongly to me, as your AV7 opponent will miss everyone who leaves the pitch after the first (every player is a legitimate foul target). His Snow Troll is the only damage causing player, so make sure you neutralise him (take him out, ideally) and avoid being surfed - and foul your heart out.

If you have exactly 300,000 then Wizard plus Bribe plus Babe would be fine. If you don't want to take a Wizard, then 2 Bribes plus 2 Babes is also good. I suggest you don't need a Star.

Your Golems should enjoy this game.

Seconded. The only thing this Norse lack is a ball handler with Ag4 or Sure Hands.
Picking up contested balls can be a problem for him, while you got an Ag5 Wight: mess his grind, and avoid that 8 Guard and 4 +St

Ok, so it looks like I've currently got 380 TV in inducements to work with if I don't pick up any more players.

I was thinking of getting two zombies to bring me to 14 players for the game, which will give me 300 TV in inducements.

I'm thinking Wizard, Babe, Bribe.

Or I guess in place of the two zombies and the inducements I could get Ramtut III.

Just wondering if Setekh+ Wizard is a viable choice.
Always had a soft spot for that S4 B-Tackle S-Ball

Beats a bribe and a babe in my book! Don't have my own computer on hand, so I don't know if you can afford it.

Bringing up LRB5

Setekh Khemri, Necromantic or Undead 220,000 6 4 2 8
Skills Loner, Block, Break Tackle, Juggernaut,

Weird, but the cyanide client calls him by another name.

with 380 in inducements I could get him and a wizard or him, with a zombie, and a bribe or two babes.

Hmm, ST4 Setekh + a rookie zombie and two babes doesn't sound bad. I'd have enough of a bench to do some fouling, and the two babes should help bring back any KO'd players I take since I expect it will be hard to keep up in the injury wars.

As already noted, your friendly Norse lack Sure Hands

Edit: :pissed: oh my... just noticed that the Thrower got "SH" :-?

and on the strength of that advice he rolls to a 3-0 victory and a date in the finals with Vanderby's beat up Vampires. This time he'll be the one giving away the cash.

Was Sethek useful?

Oh yes. The wizard and Setekh allowed me to turn what should have been a score by my opponent to make it 1-1 into a 2-0 margin for me. Wizard popped the cage and then after the ensuing scrum for the ball Setekh uses Break Tackle Dodge for a 1D against a blodger. Ball knocked lose...out of bounds...lands at the feet of my AG5 Blodge Wight...and he was off to the races.
